QPR look the more controlled in possession but Luton are getting into decent areas.

Both Elijah Adebayo and wing-back Fred Onyedinma have found themselves in menacing positions in the penalty area, they just haven't really been able to get a meaningful shot off yet.

    QPR 1-0 Luton

Ilias Chair puts a QPR corner right on top of Luton keeper Simon Sluga, but it's dealt with by the Croatia international and his defence.

Sluga, however, might not want to see the goal back - he raced off his line and made Chris Willock's decision for him, as the ball was nicely lobbed over him and into the net.

    QPR 1-0 Luton

It feels like a chance a minute in west London.

Luton's Elijah Adebayo works some space for himself in the box but sees his shot blocked by Yoann Barbet.

    It's certainly an open one.

  4. Postpublished at 17 mins

    QPR 1-0 Luton

Chris Willock is playing with confidence now after that goal - he beats a player with a neat drag back, though the QPR move comes to nothing.

Moments later returning full-back Lee Wallace drags a 20-yard effort wide of the far post for the hosts.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14 mins

    QPR 1-0 Luton

Henri Lansbury catches QPR's Ilias Chair with a high foot after the ball has gone, and the Luton midfielder rightly goes into the book.

His seventh yellow of the campaign.

QPR have gone from defending a corner to opening the scoring in a matter of seconds!

As they clear Luton's set-piece, Ilias Chair hits a long ball forward for Chris Willock, who beats the visiting defenders with his pace before lifting the ball over the onrushing Simon Sluga and into the net.

A fine finish and the R's continue their run of scoring in every league game this season.

  7. Postpublished at 9 mins

    QPR 0-0 Luton

Luton's first set-piece comes to nothing as James Bree's free-kick from deep is crossed straight into the hands of Semy Dieng.

However the visitors are lining up with three central defenders and have plenty of aerial threat.

  8. CLOSE!published at 7 mins

This game is already bubbling away very nicely.

QPR playmaker Ilias Chair cuts in off the flank and sees a vicious effort from 25 yards go narrowly over the bar.

Did Luton keeper Simon Sluga get a fingertip on that. The officials think not, but I reckon he might've...

  9. CLOSE!published at 5 mins

    QPR 0-0 Luton

Luton so close to an early opening!

QPR defender Jimmy Dunne is caught on the ball by the pressing of Elijah Adebayo, who drives towards goal - only to be stopped by home keeper Semy Dieng, with Harry Cornick also thwarted on the rebound.

  10. Postpublished at 3 mins

    QPR 0-0 Luton

Elijah Adebayo gets away on the right for Luton but tries to pick out a team-mate rather than going alone, which probably would've been the better shout.

QPR get bodies back and deal with it, in the end.

Luton have been just outside the play-offs places, and in them, a few times over the past couple of months. The Hatters are among a bunch of 10 teams separated by just four points, which is led by their opponents tonight.

After their most recent defeat to another promotion-chasing side in Stoke, Nathan Jones' side need to take advantage of these type of games against play-off rivals if they are to challenge the top six. They have to prove they can beat these types of teams on a more consistent basis.

Luton lack the squad strength and depth of their rivals but they make up for that with the effort they put in. The Hatters are still punching well above their weight. But it must be tough knowing they have to be bang on it each game for their results not to suffer.

I’m really looking forward to this game, a return to Championship football after the international break at a ground that lends itself to a raucous atmosphere under the Friday night lights.

QPR are in the top six, and have kept up their generally good form across the whole of this calendar year, but will be well aware that Luton are one of a host of teams that are lurking just below them in the table. In fact this evening’s visitors could leapfrog their hosts if they can pull off a first win at this stadium since 1984.

I’m also relishing commentating on this one as you would expect goals. Luton have obviously got firepower but QPR have got some of the brightest attacking talents in the division in Ilias Chair and Chris Willock, alongside the more experienced Charlie Austin and Lyndon Dykes. And they boast an amazing record of having scored in every league game this season, a run that actually stretches back to March in the Championship.

With just one home league defeat this season QPR should be confident and a win would be a perfect return to action; anything else and they could be watching nervously over the weekend as teams queue up to knock them out of the top six.

Bournemouth and Fulham may have streaked clear at the top, with Derby sinking at the bottom due to their points deductions, but otherwise the Championship remains as keenly contested as ever.

Sixth-placed QPR and Preston, in 16th, are separated by just five points, which offers encouragement to sides who are yet to find their rhythm.

Luton would move into the play-offs with victory tonight, while the R's can rise a place to fifth.
