Talking of Messi, Tom Lawrence has just skipped past four players like the great man himself.

He passes it to Nathan Byrne, who gives it back to the Welshman, who sadly for Derby fans reminds us why he isn't Messi as he fails to get a shot off and QPR clear.

Away from this match, Lionel Messi has just won the Ballon d'Or for a seventh time.

Now I appreciate he's arguably the greatest player ever to grace this planet, but I'm not sure he's been the best in 2021 - I'd have gone for Mo Salah...

Charlie Austin is pinging balls around like he's Steven Gerrard in his pomp while Albert Adomah has won a corner for the visitors - but the Ghanaian blasts his shot over the bar after Kelle Roos punches away.

Kelle Roos comes off his line but doesn't get there and eventually Liam Thompson is there to clear for Derby.

Looks like it's a hamstring injury for Wallace - not great for Rangers.

Almost straight away Derby go back ahead.

Nathan Byrne threads a ball into Tom Lawrence, but he shoots wide of the near post.

Yoann Barbet does well to win the ball in midfield for QPR and release Chris Willock.

The Rangers forward goes down on his way towards goal - he feels he was fouled but the referee waves play on and it rolls easily into the arms of Kelle Roos.

Early chance here for Derby. Jason Knight is fouled on the right flank in a dangerous area by Andre Dozzell.

Derby's goal has come from the game's only effort on target.

That makes it sound like a bland match, but it's been perfectly watchable stuff.

Mark Warburton's QPR just need to pose more of a threat in the final third - I wonder if we'll see Andre Gray in the second half...

Tom Lawrence's early effort into the top corner is the difference between the two sides.

It's been the only effort of note in an industrious first half that has seen QPR have a decent chunk of possession but rarely threaten the home goal.

Lawrence has had a couple of chances at the other end, but failed to hit the target.
