    FT: Spain 4-1 Finland

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on BBC One

Spain's high defensive line might cause them some problems as the competition goes on, depending on who they face. But ultimately they have so much quality and young players who can make a difference as well.

  6. 'Aleixandri introduction was key'published at 19:01 British Summer Time 8 July 2022

    FT: Spain 4-1 Finland

    Vicky Losada
Manchester City midfielder on BBC Two

We saw Spain keep the ball more in the second half. The introduction of Laia Aleixandri was key - she played very easily. That's what the team needed, playing from left to right. That gave some freedom to the other players.

  7. Spain fight back in stylepublished at 18:58 British Summer Time 8 July 2022

    FT: Spain 4-1 Finland

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Stadium MK

Job done for Spain, who showed what they were made of with a dominant display after the shock of falling a goal behind after only 50 seconds.

Spain justified why they are favourites to win the tournament as they dominated possession and could and should have scored more, only to be denied by a fine performance from Tottenham's Tinja-Riikka Korpela in the Finland goal.

But there are much tougher tasks ahead for Spain, with eight-time European champions Germany their opponents on Tuesday and Spain will not be able to be as fragile to the long ball forward as they showed at times in the first half.

However, a win is a win and Spain, looking to win the tournament for the first time, are off to a winning start and get a fully deserved three points.

Mariona Caldentey deserves that goal, she's played incredibly well. It's a really well executed penalty, right in the top corner.
