The ball landed perfectly to Jill Roord in the box and that took a bit of skill. And Roord had exactly what was required for the Dutch.

Roord doesn't just tap that home, she fires home with purpose, low and hard past Lindahl. She doesn't give Lindahl a chance to set her feet but a lovely bit of movement and absolutely capitalises on that flowing move. The Netherlands looked like they had no confidence in the first half but they look rejuvenated after half-time.

Well that's got the 'singing section' going!

Lovely attacking move by the Netherlands. There was a bit of fortune about the ball to Jill Roord as it took a bit of a deflection but brilliant turn and finish to draw the defending champions level.

Perfect start to the second half.

GOAL - Netherlands 1-1 Swedenpublished at 52 mins

    Jill Roord

    The champions are level!

Vivianne Miedema makes this goal with a brilliant dummy and spin past a Swede on the left wing. She plays a one-two and then has a pass cut out by a defender...

but it lands to Jill Roord, who drills it into the bottom corner from 16 yards.

There is a section below the big screen that I am going to call the Netherlands' singing section based solely on someone having a whopping big drum there and the fans are on their feet making plenty of noise.

The Dutch are attacking in that direction and have looked better going forward so far in this half but they are a bit open at the back and Sweden should have done better on a couple of occasions.

Second time in two minutes Sweden have a rapid attack but then just get the final ball wrong once they reach the box. This time Hanna Glas doesn't find a team-mate.

That corner leads to another corner, which Sherida Spitse takes. Simple catch for Hedvig Lindahl.

Sweden counter quickly but play the wrong ball at the end.

Bright start for the Netherlands and they win a corner.

I think Sweden can carry on doing what they are doing, waiting for their moments. They have got Asllani roaming but I've been really impressed with Rolfo, she's had an impressive season for Barcelona but that's from left-back. She's pushed higher in this team and she is creating and making things happen.

  12. Olislagers impressive since coming onpublished at 21:04 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I am very impressed with Olislagers since she's come on.

She has come on and she's shown much energy as any other player going forward. The hope hasn't gone now. At the moment, Sweden are ahead and the best player made the goal.

When you look at that Dutch front line, they should be frightening anyone. They should be finding pockets and making things happen. They need to get in that dressing room and say "look, we are the reigning champions. Sweden should be scared of us right now". They can score a goal out of nothing.

  14. 'Sweden have been the better side'published at 21:03 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

    Netherlands 0-1 Sweden

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sweden have been the better side. They had more of the play in the opposition half and look a little bit stronger. Some of the big players like Miedema have worked their socks off. She has been well marshalled there.

They need to give something else and go beyond the defender. They haven't done it so far and are against strong defenders.

  15. 'The Dutch team need to believe in themselves'published at 21:01 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

    Netherlands 0-1 Sweden

    Alex Scott
Former England and Arsenal defender on BBC One

I felt like the start of the game we had two teams trying to figure out what the other team was going to do instead of focusing on themselves.

I think the Sweden team is very much waiting and picking their moments and sticking to their structure. The Dutch team need to believe in themselves a bit more and know they have the talent because they have shown it in glimpses, just not enough.

    Netherlands 0-1 Sweden

The Women’s Euros reigning champions have never lost their first game at the next tournament (W7 D4), with Sweden facing the reigning champions in their first game in successive tournaments; they drew 0-0 with Germany in 2017.

Sweden have a narrow front three and the Netherlands wide players don't want to defend.

  18. So far so good for Swedenpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

You would imagine something will have to change in the Netherlands gameplan after a disappointing opening 45 minutes.

In fairness, their cause has certainly not been helped by yet more injuries but regardless they have still been limited to picking up scraps on the counter.

The game was a little bit more open as half time approached, but Sweden are looking good so far.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:53 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

    The half-time whistle goes.

A terrible first start for the Netherlands, who lost two players to injury, and trail 1-0.

The Dutch have the last chance of the half as Sherida Spitse pings a shot over from 25 yards.
