    HT: Austria 1-0 Northern Ireland

    Andy Gray
BBC Sport NI at St Mary's

Again, just like with the water break, half-time has come at the wrong moment for Northern Ireland.

They've been playing some really good stuff and you can tell they are growing in confidence.

They may be a goal down but they're still in this one if they can continue where they left off!

  2. 'It's only 1-0'published at 17:52 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    HT: Austria 1-0 Northern Ireland

    Gail Redmond
Ex-Northern Ireland international on BBC One

Northern Ireland will have been disappointed to concede, but it's only 1-0 and they have a lot to fight for in the second half. They might bring fresher legs on and give it a real go in the second half.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Austria 1-0 Northern Ireland

Austria lead at half-time through a 19th-minute goal from Austria's Katharina Schiechtl.

They have been pretty dominant throughout but NI will take comfort from only being a goal behind and from a decent finish to the half.

Big half-time team-talk needed from Kenny Shiels.

Sarah McFadden is the latest NI player to need treatment.

She is itching to get back on, though.

Strong finish to the half from NI.

A couple of corners and now an ambitions left-foot strike from Kirsty McGuinness. Straight at the keeper, though.

  6. 'Fast feet from Burns'published at 17:47 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Austria 1-0 Northern Ireland

    Gail Redmond
Ex-Northern Ireland international on BBC One

Jackie Burns showed fast feet to move backwards quickly and tip the ball onto the bar. That may have saved the team talk for Kenny Shiels.

Northern Ireland's first corner of the match... leads directly to their second.

    Corners are like buses etc.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 17:46 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Austria 1-0 Northern Ireland

OK, she created the problem herself by giving the ball away - but that was still an amazing save from Jackie Burns.

It was Barbara Dunst with a lovely little chip but Burns got off to tip it onto the crossbar.

    Quality from the keeper.

    Five minutes until the break.

Northern Ireland would love to get to it with the scoreline as it is, make no mistake about it.

That was good possession play from Northern Ireland and fine control with her back to goal by Marissa Callaghan.

She just got crowded out before she could get the shot away, though.

Demi Vance looks like she is struggling here.

Think it was a knock to the head in a challenge. It could also be the heat.

She leaves the field for treatment.

    Stephen Craigan
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Northern Ireland have spent so long chasing the ball that when it does come near them they don't have the energy to chase it down.

It's Austria's left side, with Barbara Dunst and Sarah Zadrazil, that is causing Northern Ireland problems. Their movement is excellent.

The free-kick in was deflected but Katharina Schiechtl watched it well and found space to tap home.

Austria look to build down the left again but the pass is overhit and goes out for a goal-kick.

They are looking more and more dominant.

I think the scoreline reflects the game quite well. Austria have definitely been on top, pinning Northern Ireland back. We've seen Northern Ireland get into the Austrian final third a few times, but it's been in wide areas.

Lots of discussion going on between the Northern Ireland players.

What manager Kenny Shiels has just said to them could be very important.

Getting to half-time at 1-0 down would be a positive at this stage.

I'm sure that water break is needed (it's hard going up in the press box so can't even begin to imagine how it is on the pitch) but it came just as Northern Ireland began to string some passes together.

Let's see if they can try to build some momentum once we get back under way.

Going to hazard a guess here that this water break will be welcomed by every player on the pitch.
