I didn’t expect to see that much space around Vivianne Miedema. The ball comes in at a lovely hight for a diving header. Maybe she took the wrong decision.

That was it, that was the chance the Netherlands have been waiting for after soaking up huge French pressure in the first half. If they could ask the ball to fall to anyone unmarked inside the box it would be Vivianne Miedema. It was a tricky volley, but you'd have banked on her hitting the target.

Vivianne Miedema will be disappointed with this, a player of her quality in that position. It's a difficult technique, she has to really get her leg over the ball but she can't do that. But it is a chance.

Big chance!

Vivianne Miedema's first opportunity is a gimme for a player of her quality. She is central and eight yards out as the corner swings over everyone and to her. She has a France defender near her but should still get her volley on target.

A rare Dutch attack yields a corner.

These Dutch forwards have no chance against Wendie Renard in the air.

They keep chipping free-kicks in when they get the chance but the France centre-back is there every time to nod away.

It's like having the BFG at the back.

I think Melvine Malard just needs to take the pace out of her runs into the box. A lot of the time the deliveries are coming past her.

If she was a little more patient, several of those opportunities might have fallen at her feet.

Vivianne Miedema continues to toil.

Her team-mates are pumping passes in her direction but she's having to charge down blind alleys. Just what you need after a bout of covid.

There is Cascarino, fashioning something from almost nothing.

She beats two players for pace and crosses into an area for Kadidiatou Diani. A Dutch defender just manages to get a touch on the ball to prevent the finish.

France as a collective know what is expected of them. As the ball goes out to the left side, Cascarino is on her bike - she knows she's got to go. That's just lots of training.

The band is still plugging away, keeping the crowd active.

Got a big engine on them, that trumpeter.

A bit better from the Netherlands. Too slow, though.

They have players in good positions, but Victoria Pelova isn't direct enough and France have rallied to block her shot by the time it comes.

Well, the Dutch needed to do something. Is Jill Roord going to inspire them? Her creativity could bring Vivianne Miedema into the game more.
