  2. 'Only thinking about the semi-final'published at 19:27 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    England v Sweden (20:00 BST)

England manager Sarina Wiegman says she is fully focused on Tuesday's Euro 2022 semi-final against Sweden - and will not think about the final.

The old classic 'one game at a time'...

  3. What England learned from past semi-final defeatspublished at 19:25 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    England v Sweden (20:00 BST)

Tonight represents the fourth time on the trot that England have reached the semi-final of a major tournament. Each of the last three have ended in defeat.

Former England goalkeeper Karen Bardsley was involved in their previous defeats in 2015, 2017 and 2019 and she has been speaking to BBC Sport's Emma Sanders about what happened in each and the lessons Sarina Wiegman's side can learn from them.

"In 2015 we knew we needed to work on our belief and mentality," she said. "The 2017 defeat taught us about squad depth and after 2019 we knew it was those crucial moments and the level of preparation needed.

"They are the biggest lessons I think we learned and have to take into this semi-final against Sweden."

I'm not particularly surprised it is an unchanged England side. We did speculate Alessia Russo coming in for Ellen White and Alex Greenwood at left-back for Rachel Daly.

With all the debate about that, it makes a lot of sense just to stick with the same team Sarina Wiegman has played all tournament because that team has been successful.

We have spoken numerous times about how much of an impact the substitutes have made.

  6. 'England have best bench in the tournament'published at 19:20 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    England v Sweden (20:00 BST)

    Kelly Smith
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Former England striker Kelly Smith shared her thoughts on BBC Radio 5Live breakfast ahead of tonight's semi-final match...

"I worked that [Sweden v Belgium] game and I was not wowed by them [Sweden]. I think they're lacking connections in the final third with their front three but they are a threat in their counter-attacking play so England will have to be switched on, especially when they lose possession. I think Stina Blackstenius is their main outlet; Leah Williamson will be up against her and they know each other quite well because they play for the same club team in Arsenal, so that's a match-up to watch out for.

"I think it [England v Spain match] was a real lesson for England. In certain periods of that Spanish game they had to suffer in moments where they didn't have a lot of possession but they had to stay concentrated, compact, together.

"They had a strong mental resilience just to keep digging and keep pushing and they had self-belief to push right to the end. I think England probably have the strongest bench in the tournament in terms of the subs: Russo, Toone, Greenwood, Jill Scott, coming on and making an impact. These are good players, experienced players that can come on and give the team a lift when needed."

It's raining and what's interesting is that zip on the pitch. These are little things you have to take into account. It's quite cold as well. You have got to make sure you warm up properly. Try and calm the nerves - that's a big thing as well.

  8. 'England at 58% to reach final'published at 19:13 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    England v Sweden (20:00 BST)

    Simon Gleave
Head of sports analysis, Nielsen Gracenote

Home advantage means that England have the biggest chance of the four semi-finalists of reaching the final (58%). If England were playing Sweden on neutral ground, the chances would swap exactly and Sweden would be the favourites."England's chance of winning Euro 2022 has increased from 21% to 29% during this tournament. England have been favourites throughout according to Gracenote simulations. Sweden have 22% chance of lifting the trophy on Sunday.

  9. 'They know they need to deliver'published at 19:10 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    England v Sweden (20:00 BST)

    Alex Scott
Former England defender on The One Show

I think England will do well. I can feel it. These players are loving the occasion. They did so well against Spain. They delivered. They're so close to getting to Wembley.

I was at the camp the other day talking to the players. They're so calm and they're loving the support. Everyone in the local shops is talking about how well they're doing. They know they need to deliver today to get that one step closer and create history.

I hope they do it in 90 minutes but if they need that drama again I'm all for it.

These two young England fans have got a ticket to the final at Wembley and are hoping to see the Lionesses in action.

They have both gone for an England win tonight - 2-1 and 3-1 - while they hope to see "super sub" Alessia Russo come on to score, and Keira Walsh to boss it in midfield.

Can you tell they're from Manchester?

Once again tonight, Ellen White takes to the field with the opportunity to surpass Wayne Rooney as the man or woman with most goals for their country.

The 33-year-old Man City forward has 52 to her name as it stands - that is one behind men's record goalscorer Rooney, who notched his 53 goals in 120 caps.

White has scored twice so far at Euro 2022, both goals coming in the 8-0 smashing of Norway.

  14. Russo: England's super subpublished at 18:55 British Summer Time 26 July 2022

    England v Sweden (20:00 BST)

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport

It says a lot about Alessia Russo's rise that the main selection dilemma before England's Euro 2022 semi-final with Sweden appears to be whether she should replace all-time top scorer Ellen White in the starting line-up.

White is likely to start Tuesday's game against the tournament's top-ranked team at Bramall Lane but Russo's performances as a super sub this month have become increasingly hard to ignore.

She is England's second-highest scorer at the Euros with three goals, despite not starting a game.

She has come off the bench in all four of England's matches and had a major impact, most notably when she provided the assist for Manchester United team-mate Ella Toone's equaliser in the quarter-final against Spain.

Having made her debut in 2020, the 23-year-old has scored seven goals in 11 England appearances in total - a particularly remarkable record given she has only started for the national team twice.

Her impact in her first major tournament has been dramatic and, whether or not she starts against Sweden, she is sure to have a key role to play.

Yet while she is only just emerging as a star at this level, those who have known her for years have not been surprised by her rise.

In the most unsurprising revelation of the night, Sarina Wiegman has named an unchanged England team for the fifth game running.

Striker Alessia Russo, who has scored three goals off the bench so far, is once again a substitute.

England XI: Earps; Bronze, Bright, Williamson, Daly; Walsh, Stanway, Kirby; Mead, White, Hemp.

Former Chelsea defender Jonna Andersson does not make it back into the Sweden starting XI but returns to the bench.

Barcelona forward Fridolina Rolfo and Chelsea captain Magdalena Eriksson start, while San Diego Wave's Sofia Jakobsson also gets the nod.

Sweden XI: Lindahl; Ilestedt, Sembrant, Eriksson, Glas; Björn, Angeldahl, Asllani; Jakobsson, Blackstenius, Rolfö.

Sweden have been setting up "camp" throughout the tournament and bringing the yellow vibes with them.

In Sheffield they have set up just 100m from the main England fan park in front of the pub Frog and Parrot in the city centre.

You could spot their yellow and blue wigs from a mile away and they were creating enough noise to draw you in.
