Better from Newcastle. Allan Saint-Maximin shows some great skill to leave about four Norwich defenders in his wake before rolling the ball across the pitch. Joelinton runs onto it and hammers a shot over the bar from 25 yards with his first-time effort.

Newcastle United have not won any of their 18 Premier League matches (D7 L11) in which they received a red card at 0-0.

Jonjo Shevley gets lucky here. Max Aarons has him for pace as he races down the right onto a loose ball. He goes down but somehow Newcastle get the free-kick.

It's been fairly even since the red card. In so much as nobody has done anything of note.

Eddie Howe turns around in absolute disbelief as Ciaran Clark gets sent off. What was the defender doing?

All that hard work in the week goes to waste. What was Howe saying in the programme about his first game in the Newcastle dugout? He said it would be a 'memorable moment'.

Well you could call it that, I guess. Not many words between Clark and Howe as the centre-back walked off the pitch.

I've just heard Alan Shearer make a similar point. Even if Teemu Pukki scored - and that was nowhere near a certainty - is that worse than going down to 10 men for 80 minutes?

It’s ridiculous. Clark still has three or four yards. Pukki has gone by him – you’ve got time to have a little bit of a go for the ball.

Pukki still has the goalkeeper to beat there. Clark hasn't exactly dragged a big bunch of his shirt, but there's no doubt there whatsoever.

Poor Ryan Fraser! Newcastle bring on a defender in Federico Fernandez and Fraser is the man who makes way.

After all that, Norwich almost score. Billy Gilmour's free-kick hits the target but Martin Dubravka parries it away.

A huge, huge, huge moment.

Ciaran Clark has made a massive mess of this and he's gone. His clearance is blocked by Teemu Pukki and with the Norwich striker going through, Clark hauls him down.

That's a clear goalscoring opportunity and it's a straight red card.

Part of Newcastle's game plan seems to be knocking long diagonals over the Norwich full-backs. It is working so far, and Eddie Howe looks content as Jonjo Shelvey, the master of those passes, fires a shot narrowly over.

Howe and his assistant Jason Tindall are encouraging their players for every pass, press and tackle they make.

Good play by Javier Manquillo there. He battles and wins a throw-in, which he takes quickly off a Norwich player and wins a corner.

These sides look quite nervous. Both sets of players have given the ball away a few times.

Jonjo Shelvey plays one of those excellent forward passes he's capable of and picks out Callum Wilson near the edge of the box.

Wilson lays it off to Ryan Fraser, whose shot is blocked.

Moments later Shelvey pings one over the bar from 30 yards.
