There was an air of inevitability about that from the moment Diogo Dalot played a reverse pass out to Marcus Rashford.

The Arsenal defenders saw Ronaldo running into the box, they knew where he was going and what he would try to do.

Stopping it happening is a different matter entirely.

Antonio Conte's side started the night in ninth but move up to sixth spot. They have taken seven points out of nine under the Italian.

Two big saves early in this second half. The latest was Ramsdale spreading himself really well to stop Ronaldo. He steps inside on to his right foot and strikes it. Ramsdale wants to make himself big and manages to do so.

Both sides have a good chance in the opening couple of minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo runs onto Bruno Fernandes' through ball, cuts inside Thomas Partey and drives a shot in but Aaron Ramsdale makes himself big and saves with his thigh.
