    Will Perry
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

Jack Grealish has missed another sitter. It could be three or four already.

I've no idea what's going on with the Watford defence at the minute.

Maybe Jack Grealish is invisible to Watford's defenders. He's free again in the box, this time from a Phil Foden cross, but he shoots at the keeper.

Another Raheem Sterling chance. Nice footwork and he curls a shot towards the far corner but a diving Daniel Bachman tips it round the post.

  6. 'We have to be more honest'published at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    FT: Southampton 1-1 Brighton

    Southampton

More Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl talking to Sky Sports about his goalkeeper Alex McCarthy: "It’s a simple mistake we make and then we cannot discuss the 90 minutes before where we played very well.

"We had to play with an injured goalkeeper in the end. If he doesn’t give a signal that he has to be changed - as long as he can jump and everything.

"If he’s not able to jump there, we should change him. We have to learn from this and in future be more honest."

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 7 mins

    Watford 0-1 Man City

An early yellow card as Watford's Joshua King catches Aymeric Laporte with a sliding tackle. There was a quick VAR check in case it should be red - but yellow is the conclusion.

  8. 'We need to turn performances into wins'published at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    FT: Newcastle 1-0 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC Sport: "The mistake changed the game. First half we put on a positive display but we couldn't open them up. It was decent. A lot of solid performances. It is about adding those details. Second half there was people working but we couldn't open them up. It has been a challenge this season to find those details.

"They looked nervous. We were better than them first half and looked more of a threat. The goal against the run of play calmed them, down. Second half they had something to hang on to. The crowd got behind them instead of against them We have been a on a run of performances. We need to turn them into wins.

"I thought at the time it was a foul [for the goal] but looking back it is a clumsy challenge. It is one of them things. Their striker came alive when it popped out of his hands. We talk to our strikers about that. Not all goals can be pretty goals. At that stage we were going well. It changed the game.

"It leaves us working. The Premier League has never been an easy task. Every season is tough and is work for us. A challenge. There is a lot of football to be played and we have been down this road before. The players are not a million miles away. The next game is going to come around and you have to play it."

  9. Origi 'one of the best finishers I've ever seen', says Klopppublished at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    Wolves 0-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "Divock Origi, the legend, finished it off and it's a great story. He's an incredible striker, for different reasons he did not play that often but I hope one day he finds a manager that plays him more than I do.

"He's one of the best finishers I've ever seen in my life. In this great team, with our [front] three, he doesn't play all the time but he is a very positive boy, loves the club, wants to contribute and he did in an incredible way.

"Other results are not really important, we just want to win football games. We played three days ago and the derby [against Everton] is easy to focus on as it's the game of the year, then we start the machine again and I like how we fought today."

  15. 'A massive challenge'published at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    Wolves 0-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to Match of the Day: "Absolutely great. A very difficult game, we had to fight against an opponent that changed their approach. They normally are a footballing side we didn't see much of that today.

"They defended deep with a lot of players and go for counter attacks and it's really difficult as there's no-one as quick as [Adama] Traore.

"It was a massive challenge for our concentration as we missed massive chances with Diogo [Jota] but you have to stay in the game, which is what we did. We brought on [Alex] Oxlade-[Chamberlain] and Divock [Origi] on and in the end it worked out and I'm really happy with that.

"The football game was really good in tricky circumstances. We played a lot of good stuff, it wasn't easy and when the game is 0-0 you feel the pressure when you want this result so badly. The fact that we got it makes it really good.

"I heard this [the weather] happens in Stoke, but it was in Wolverhampton and we came through and it was all good."

  16. 'The character of the team is fantastic'published at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    FT: Southampton 1-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter speaking to Match of the Day: "If it happens more than once, it can’t be luck. There’s a great spirit with the players. We weren’t at our best at all, it was a really scrappy game.

"We pushed and pushed, and it was fantastic for Neal Maupay to get the goal.

"Stuff has happened with injuries and the guys have had to adjust and reset. The character of the team is fantastic.

"A win’s a win, still three points. Consistently, we're still in there and fighting for points. The league is so competitive, nobody gives you anything. As always, we can continue to improve and try to get points.

On the criticism forward Neal Maupay has received recently: "It’s football, it’s modern life, people want to kick people when they’re struggling a bit. We know what Neal’s about, he’ll continue to improve – delighted for him."

  19. 'For sure we can stay up'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    FT: Newcastle 1-0 Burnley

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, speaking to BBC Sport: "Absolutely delighted for everyone connected with the club. It was a massive game for us and I thought the lads responded. After the first 20 mins we were great today. Very nervy towards the end as we were desperate for the win. The players managed that part really well. The spirit in the group has shown and the atmosphere was exceptional. I can't praise the supporters enough.

"We have tried to bring our philosophy to the team. To be front foot and be more aggressive. We have technical players and athletes. Confidence is a key in any sport and we have lacked that. But today goes a long way to rebuilding that.

"It was a delicate one this week with three game in a week and keeping him [Callum Wilson] fit but he was excellent today. His finish for the goal was high class. He will be vital for us. We will need him before now and the end of the season.

"The fixture list doesn't look kind. But we can only tick them off one at a time. Historically we have said you need to take points off the top teams and that will be the task in December. January [transfer window] will be important but the players we have here we like and we need to maximise them first.

"The market changes so much and quickly. People above me are planning for that. But my sole focus is coaching the team. I love working with this group. They are hungry and want to achieve. For sure we can stay up. We have come in form a difficult position and there is a long road ahead but I believe in what we are doing."

  20. 'Ubelievable'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    FT: Southampton 1-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton defender Shane Duffy: "Unbelievable. [The fans] been like that all season. We never give up and they never give up.

"I feel relieved. Delighted because we didn’t play well. It was a tough, scrappy game and it could have gone either way. We always thought we could get a chance and Neal [Maupay] put it away.

"Neal’s a massive part of our team. He’s done it all his career – score goals. He’s a nightmare to play against. I’m delighted for him and he deserves it all.

"This is what the squad’s here for, we've built up a really strong squad, whoever steps up I’m sure he’ll do the job."
