    The first round began on Friday evening when eighth-tier AFC Sudbury, the lowest-ranked side to make it this far in the competition, lost 4-0 to League Two Colchester.

    Northern Premier League side Buxton grabbed the headlines on Saturday when Diego de Girolamo scored a late winner to defeat National League North York City.

    Kidderminster Harriers edged out fifth-tier Grimsby and League Two teams Mansfield, Port Vale and Swindon all earned wins over sides in the division above them.
