    Liverpool 0-0 Brentford

A Sunday stroll feel so far. Fabinho and Alisson play a slow one-two at the back before Christian Norgaard puts some pressure on.

Liverpool then look to break down the right but Norgaard is there again to put in a decent tackle.

    West Ham 0-0 Leeds

An early attack by West Ham as Pablo Fornals raids down the flank. He sends the ball into the box but it is too high for Michail Antonio.

Fornals flashes a thumbs up Antonio's way, and does it again another four times for good measure, just to make sure Antonio knows how apologetic he is for overhitting the cross.

Oh. We're not quite under way at Anfield actually. One of the referee's assistants has a technical issue. Someone's legged it down the tunnel to get some more batteries. The crowd give out a teasing jeer.

This is a big ask for Brentford, maybe they need to be more reserved and defence-minded. Counter attack in numbers and be positive going forward. For Liverpool, we expect a better performance than against Arsenal.

  13. 'We will have to play well'published at 13:45 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

West Ham v Leeds (14:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes to Sky Sports: "We've been playing quite well and starting to get a few goals away from home. We've not really had one player who has stood out and got 15 goals but it's good that everyone is chipping in.

"I think Jarrod Bowen can continue to improve. He's young enough to keep moving on. He showed very early on he's capable of doing that. He's playing very well. he needs to keep his goals and assists up but they're the things that get you talked about so hopefully that keeps happening.

"Let's go through the process and do what we can to win the game. Leeds are a really tough opponent. Leeds have had a couple of injuries and Covid but the games are all different. We will have to play well.

"We've had injuries and Covid as well but for some reason we've not had enough to have any games off."

Crazily, if West Ham win, they are three points behind Chelsea! It feels like two different worlds. There is nothing guaranteed anywhere.

  15. 'A difficult side to play'published at 13:41 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

West Ham v Leeds (14:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

West Ham have picked up again after their little slump in results and have now won four games in a row in all competitions.

That run included their win over Leeds in the FA Cup last weekend and I am going to go for the same outcome this time.

The Hammers are very powerful and such a difficult side to play against now with the pace they have in attack. I don't see Leeds in any danger of the drop, but I also can't see them keeping West Ham out.

    Prediction: 2-0

West Ham v Leeds (14:00 GMT)

West Ham have a two-point lead over Arsenal in fourth, though the Gunners have a game in hand.

David Moyes' side can extend that gap to five points with victory today.

A win or a draw today would move Leeds United up to 15th in the Premier League table and they could go nine points clear of the bottom three.

Norwich City, currently sat in 18th, have also played two extra games than Leeds.

  17. Head-to-head statspublished at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Liverpool v Brentford (14:00 GMT)

Brentford are without a win in eight matches against Liverpool in all competitions since a 2-1 top-flight victory at Griffin Park in November 1938.

This is the first time Brentford have visited Anfield since an FA Cup quarter-final defeat in March 1989.

Liverpool last hosted the Bees in a league match back in October 1946.

Brentford have lost their last five away games against Liverpool in all competitions. Their only win at Anfield came in November 1937 when Bobby Reid netted a hat-trick in a 4-3 victory.

  18. 'We want to correct things'published at 13:34 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

West Ham v Leeds (14:00 GMT)

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa to Sky Sports: "We want to correct things that happened in the last game, get behind a bit more in the attack and make it more difficult for them to play out from the back.

"Even if their victory was fair, we were always able to be in the game and we avoided marked differences between us.

"For us every game that we play, the victory is something we can't go without given how we started the season.

"In the first half of the season we haven't picked up as many points as we'd have wanted."

Did you consider asking to postpone this game? "No, no. We don't have any reasons to ask for it."

  19. 'Liverpool should have enough'published at 13:31 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Liverpool v Brentford (14:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Liverpool should have enough to beat Brentford at Anfield. The Bees put on a very disciplined defensive performance when they lost 1-0 to Manchester City over Christmas, but they shipped four goals against Southampton on Tuesday, which is not exactly ideal preparation for this game.

    Prediction: 2-0

  20. 'We know it will be tough'published at 13:28 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

West Ham v Leeds (14:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham full-back Aaron Cresswell to Sky Sports: "Everyone knows what Leeds are about, the way they run and the physicality.

"We know it will be a tough game, as it was on Sunday. The lads did well there so hopefully they will today.

"If you look at the goals and the assists [from West Ham this season], it's not just the forward lads getting them.

"If we want to compete at the top end of the table, that's the stuff we have to do."
