It's a harsh yellow for Patterson to be shown. But it's maybe best that he misses the Denmark game and not a possible play-off game now.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 18:13 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2021

    Moldova 0-1 Scotland

Nathan Patterson will be suspended for Denmark's trip to Hampden on Monday.

The goalscorer trips Marandici and he's in the book. The resulting Moldova delivery from the deep free-kick is straight into Craig Gordon's arms.

Stuart Armstrong attempts to guide the ball in low from the corner, but it's pretty poor.

Set pieces haven't been the best tonight.

  4. Postpublished at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2021

Like the majority of the first half, Scotland are dominating the ball as Nathan Patterson's cross evades everyone in the box.

    Kieran Tierney wins a corner.

Stunning deep ball in from John McGinn to Che Adams.

The Southampton man should probably hit it first time but he takes a touch and doesn't get a shot off.

Really should have a goal or two to his name tonight.

    Quote Message

I think Scotland have been really good, their intent from the off was serious. They were trying to just go after them and not ease their way in. What a brilliant goal it was too, Patterson's confidence levels are through the roof regardless of if he's playing or not.

We started much brighter than we usually do but, after 20 minutes or so, the pendulum swung for the Moldovans. We can't afford to give up chances to them and that's when they had their best spell.

The space is definitely down the flanks against them. Whenever we get someone running beyond they can't deal with it. No more than we deserve to be up at half-time.

    How are we feeling?

That goal has calmed me down, but if we don't find another I might be struggling during this second half.

We're all in this together, troops.

    Bit of half-time reading, anyone?

The Tartan Army Sunshine appeal - a charity set up by Scotland fans in 2003 - are making their 88th consecutive donation this weekend in Moldova.

It's a truly remarkable achievement from the group. We found out more about their contribution and the history of the charity after a discussion with chairman Neil Forbes.

It was an excellent goal and finish from Patterson and it's what Scotland deserved. There were a couple of scary moments but Gordon's save was incredible. Almost a perfect first half you could say.

  15. You make me want to shoutpublished at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2021

    HT: Moldova 0-1 Scotland

    Tom English
BBC Scotland's chief sports writer at the Zimbru stadium

We're incredibly close to the pitch here at the Zimbru and I think I can say this, without fear of contradiction, Artur Ionita - Moldova's attacking midfielder - is the shoutiest man in football.

It's non-stop yelping from the big man. No idea what he's saying but the wild gesticulations and the demonic eyes and endless howling suggest that he's not best pleased with the service he's getting.

Nathan Patterson's brilliant opener brought a guttural roar from one of the Moldovans. I couldn't see who it was - too busy marvelling at the cool finish - but my money is on Ionita.

If it hadn't been for Craig Gordon's heroics, we may well have been going into the break at 1-1. But there have been plenty of positives for Scotland.

  17. HALF-TIME: Moldova 0-1 Scotlandpublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2021

We can relax a bit more going into the break as Nathan Patterson's first Scotland goal has Steve Clarke's men ahead in Moldova.

The Scots have comfortably merited their lead after creating a host of chances.

But there have been a couple of scares for Clarke's backline. This one is far from over.

It was so important to get a goal in the first half. I think we'll create as many chances after the break as we have already. Hopefully we can take them.
