    Rotherham 0-0 Stockport

Rotherham wing-back Mikel Miller's free-kick gives Ben Hinchliffe a few nervy moments as it zips towards goal but just whistles over the bar.

Stockport's Will Collar was booked for the challenge on the edge of the box which left Chiedozie Ogbene down on the turf.

  2. Postpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2021

    Gateshead 0-0 Charlton

Charlton are getting in behind Gateshead now.

Diallang Jaiyesimi's low cross was turned behind, while before that Ben Purrington got down the left but his centre was easily taken by Jacob Chapman in the Gateshead goal.

  3. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2021

    Rotherham 0-0 Stockport

Stockport are racking up the set-pieces. They've had a couple of free-kicks and a fair few corners but Rotherham are coping with the ball in.

Ryan Rydel and Ollie Crankshaw have been taking it in turns, but the deliveries just haven't been good enough to truly cause issues at the back.

  4. CLOSE!published at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2021

    Gateshead 0-0 Charlton

Gateshead get in behind again, as Cedwyn Scott chases a dink over the top and a little chop-back gets him onto his left foot.

Scott hits a low skimming effort which ripples the side netting.

Some fans thought that was in. It wasn't far away.

  5. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2021

Gateshead fans feel they should have had a penalty, after Dan Ward went down in the box after a coming together with Charlton midfielder George Dobson.

He chopped the ball back inside as he took on Dobson in the box, but was muscled out of it.

    No penalty.

The Tynesiders are really putting the pressure on.

  6. Postpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2021

    Rotherham 0-0 Stockport

Stockport definitely aren't fazed by Rotherham, who also look a confident bunch - unsurprisingly given their excellent form.

The press is ferocious, committed and full of desire, but the Millers still possess an air of confidence in possession.

Josh Vickers has just had to sprawl low to make a save from skiddy low effort from Stockport midfielder Will Collar.

    Gateshead 0-0 Charlton

Some good body strength from Diallang Jaiyesimi for Charlton shrugs Dan Ward off the ball as he careers into the box on the back of a smart Gateshead move.

    Had to win that.

Jaiyesimi then had an opportunity at the other end of the field when he beat his marker with a little drop of the shoulder but his cross sails behind the players hitting the box for the Addicks.

  8. Postpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2021

    Gateshead 0-0 Charlton

Charlton have just started to wrest a bit of control, forcing a string of set-pieces against the home side.

It has been a lively opening so far. Both sides trying to play and that's good to see on a nice surface at the International Stadium.

Stockport look confident in the early stages, pressing out of possession.

However, Rotherham just showed their class and threat; one sweeping pass found Chiedozie Ogbene on the right, he cut inside but his low shot was deflected behind.

The subsequent set-piece is poor and simply fielded at the near post.

  10. Postpublished at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2021

    Gateshead 0-0 Charlton

Early gallop forward by Macaulay Langstaff for Gateshead, after a lovely slide-rule to set him away down the right.

However, his curling cross into the middle sails through.

Charlton don't get it clear, and after a slick one-touch move, Dan Ward takes aim but fires well wide.

Also in action tonight are the Championship's top-two, as Scott Parker returns to old club Fulham with his current side Bournemouth for a proper test of promotion credentials.

Parker guided the Cottagers to promotion but couldn't sustain their place, and then moved to the Cherries to see if he could repeat the feat in red and black.

Meanwhile, Marco Silva is the man in the Fulham hotseat, and hot is the word as his side have scorched and scored their way to the top of the league.

    Rotherham v Stockport (19:45 GMT)

Rotherham boss Paul Warne told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"It doesn't mean anything really at the moment, when you're on a run there's always someone wanting to beat you.

"There's a thin line between confidence and arrogance. I don't want to sound too cliched but it's all about the next game. When the game kicks off on Friday our full attention will be on that game."

Stockport boss Dave Challinor told BBC Radio Manchester:

"They can go and achieve what they want. If we can control what we can control, there are loads of variables in football, if the group apply themselves with the ability they have we have then we know we can be a match for any team.

"Every single day on the training pitch we want to see a better version of us, and likewise on game days, over a 90 minute or 120 minutes game we want to see a better version of us going forward."

Gateshead boss Mike Williamson told BBC Radio Newcastle:

"Control the controllables, that's how we prepare. How we approach the game, tactically, mentally, physically - in terms of not getting overwhelmed by the occasion.

"They've a wealth of experience, hundreds of Premier League games in their squad, and we're relishing and looking forward to it and we've genuinely got belief in ourselves."

Charlton interim boss Johnnie Jackson told BBC Radio London:

"We're one of the bigger teams in the competition at this stage, it's a big League One side against a team from non-league.

"We can't give them what they want for this one, the whole world will be against us, everyone watching certainly will be wanting an upset and we can't have that."

  16. Hatters face top-of-the-tree Millerspublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2021

    Rotherham v Stockport (19:45 GMT)

Dave Challinor can scarcely have believed how good life has been since rejoining former Stockport County, this time as manager.

He's won his past four games, scoring 16 goals in the process, and dumped higher-level local rivals Bolton out in round one.

Tonight though sees the Hatters travel over the pennines to Paul Warne's high-flying Rotherham, who have been both prolific up top and miserly at the back.

They also haven't lost since September, winning 11 of the 17 matches since. Whose record goes tonight? Or are we bound for a replay?

FA Cup highlights: Altrincham 2-3 Gateshead

Gateshead normally have to vie for attention with the north east's bigger sides such as neighbours Newcastle and Sunderland usually, so tonight's game is welcome exposure.

The Tynesiders are managed by former Magpies defender Mike Williamson and he is doing a good job to be fair of steering the ship, with fifth place in National League North and just 90 minutes away from the third round.

Their opponents tonight are a Charlton side hoping to clamber back to the Championship, but interim boss Johnnie Jackson would love a cup run to enhance his chances of getting the job full-time.

Traditionally, the Addicks have only lost one tie against non-league opposition, that was against Northwich some 12 years ago. Can the 'Heed put another notch on the 'giantkillers' chart with a second reverse tonight?

Every player, fan, director, kitman, ball-boy and especially the owner at clubs outside the Premier League and Championship dreams of seeing their side draw that golden third round FA Cup tie.

Well, tonight's the night where those dreams can start to be fulfilled.

Whether it's National League North side Gateshead wishing for a visit to St James' Park and Newcastle on the other side of the Tyne, or Stockport County fancying an Etihad visit to neighbours Manchester City - only victory tonight can continue that magical journey.

Their respective opponents, League One sides Charlton Athletic and Rotherham United, will be looking for their own taste of glamour with progress to the next stage.

It's the start of the FA Cup second round. Get the job done, and who knows what lies ahead.
