    West Brom 0-0 Cardiff

Three goals in the last seven games is the sort of thing you expect from a team fighting relegation, not one trying to get automatic promotion like West Brom.

If they don't score in the first half, you can sense The Hawthorns crowd will start to think 'here we go again'...

  2. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Bristol City 1-2 Millwall

Matty James chases a ball to the byeline with a Millwall defender and the home support cries handball.

Nothing doing on that basis, but they've earned a string of corners.

Young Alex Scott is behind them on the right, then flashes a tame shot at Bartosz Bialkowski after Antoine Semenyo recycles his initial ball in.

  3. Postpublished at 14:21 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2022

    Blackburn 0-0 Huddersfield

Early chance for Rovers, as Reda Khadra tees up John Buckley, but the effort is blocked.

There's an expectancy about Blackburn these days, and the fans are up for it. Huddersfield no slouches.

    West Brom 0-0 Cardiff

West Brom v CardiffImage source, Rex Features

So close to the opener for West Brom.

Callum Robinson thinks he has scored after a smart turn and shot but Alex Smithies produces a fantastic save for the Bluebirds.

  5. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Bristol City 1-2 Millwall

Still enjoyably open at Ashton Gate, with Bristol City looking much more positive in the second-half.

Chris Martin's presence up front has released the shackles on Antoine Semenyo, and they have more options.

Han Noah Massengo just swooped on a loose pass on the edge of his own box and launched a break, but the final ball for the hosts just didn't produce sufficient rewards.

  6. goal

    Albert Adomah (14 mins)

The former Aston Villa man scores at St Andrew's!

A first goal of the season for Albert Adomah and he enjoyed that one, firing home from the edge of the box as Lee Wallace's low ball was only half cleared.

Questions will be asked of the home defence though, as Chris Willock was allowed to run 30 yards unchallenged into the Blues' penalty area.

    Birmingham 0-0 QPR

Jordan James shootsImage source, Getty Images

Jordan James has had the first chance of this game but the teenager has volleyed over.

Bowyer exempted him from criticism as Blues lost at Blackburn last time and he's made a bright start in this one.

  8. KICK-OFFpublished at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2022

    Blackburn 0-0 Huddersfield

Delayed kick-off finally under way in Lancashire, after crowd congestion.

Blackburn are a hot ticket these days under Tony Mowbray.

  9. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Bristol City 1-2 Millwall

Tom Bradshaw's eager running of the channels earns Millwall a corner after City put the ball behind.

Max O'Leary was clattered like Peter McParland on Harry Gregg (ask your great, great grandad) and got a free-kick for the home side.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 48 mins

    Bristol City 1-2 Milwall

Great passage of play from Bristol City to work the ball forward and get a chance which forces a fine save from Bartosz Bialkowski.

It's a great muscular run down the right by Antoine Semenyo, who brushes his man aside and crosses - the ball is held up and stubbed into the box and Andi Weimann crashes a half-volley, which Bialkowski has to get down to block.

  11. Postpublished at 14:11 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2022

    Birmingham 0-0 QPR

Just looked up George Hall's date of birth - 15 July 2004. My goodness, that makes me feel very old indeed!

However, in team-mate Jordan James, he has a player only 13 days older. Lee Bowyer has not been afraid to throw kids into his side this season if he thinks they deserve it.

  12. Monday's Forest-Barnsley game offpublished at 14:11 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2022

    #bbcefl

Monday's Championship game between Nottingham Forest and Barnsley is the latest EFL fixture to be postponed because of Covid-19 cases.

Forest say they cannot fulfil the game due a mixture of positive cases and injuries in their squad.

You can see a list of postponed matches here.

  13. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Bristol City 1-2 Millwall

Fine run from Andi Weimann through midfield picks out Antoine Semenyo down the right, but a Jake Cooper tackle stops him at the expense of a corner.

The set-piece has a few hearts in mouths but Billy Mitchell helps it over his shoulder and away to safety.

    West Brom 0-0 Cardiff

West Brom v CardiffImage source, Rex Features

West Brom are still unbeaten at home this season and they will expect three points from this one.

Valerien Ismael was furious with his side's display as they lost at Derby on Monday, but they have not really come flying out of the traps here.

  15. In-form Terriers target pointspublished at 14:09 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2022

    Blackburn v Huddersfield (14:15 GMT)

Huddersfield have positioned themselves as one of the chasing pack in the Championship promotion race, and three straight wins have really done the business for Carlos Corberan's side.

They ran the gauntlet a bit at Forest in their last outing, but crucially clung on to make sure Duane Holmes' goal earned them three points to clamber into sixth place.

Today's trip to Ewood Park is a proper 'six-pointer' with just six points separating the two teams, with Rovers up in third and the likes of QPR, Stoke and Forest breathing down their necks.

Unfortunately for the Terriers, Corberan will not be in attendance across the Pennines. Will his side deliver a 'get well' gift to remember?

  16. Rovers' Chile man on hot streakpublished at 14:08 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2022

    Blackburn v Huddersfield (14:15 GMT)

Ben Brereton DiazImage source, Getty Images

When Blackburn went up to the Premier League under Kenny Dalglish in 1992, they had David Speedie and Duncan Shearer topping the scoring charts with 23 apiece.

When they were promoted again in 2001, they had Matt Jansen leading the line, again, scoring 23 goals. Only Fulham's Louis Saha got more.

So, if you're looking for omens, Blackburn in 2021-22 have Ben Brereton Diaz. And he's got 20 goals already.

Tony Mowbray's side have been devastating of late, since a 7-0 home thrashing by Fulham, they have peeled themselves off the canvas in Tyson Fury fashion to win seven of their next eight - drawing the other.

They're far from a one-man team, that's for sure. John Buckley, Joe Rothwell and Tyrhys Dolan are all exciting attacking talents at Mogga's disposal.

  17. SECOND HALFpublished at 46 mins

    Bristol City 1-2 Millwall

Back underway at Ashton Gate then, where the home support certainly let their team know their half-time feelings.

Nigel Pearson is not a man I'd wish to enrage in any way, so I can imagine his players will be bang up for the second-half.

Two changes have been made too, Chris Martin and Han Noah Massengo are on.

Millwall have been very bright though today, even if the weather hasn't been.

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2022

    West Brom 0-0 Cardiff

West Brom v CardiffImage source, PA Media

Karlan Grant has got the nod up front for West Brom and he'll want to impress with Daryl Dike now waiting in the wings.

Cardiff have made two changes from Thursday's 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth. The Baggies did not play that night as their match with Preston was cancelled due to Covid cases amongst their opponents, so three extra days rest could come in useful as the match wears on.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2022

    Birmingham 0-0 QPR

There is a debut for 17-year-old Birmingham attacker George Hall. He has started up front alongside Troy Deeney. Just the 16 years between the pair then!

Lee Bowyer has made four changes from the side that was walloped at Blackburn 15 days ago. They were awful that day and it won't take much to improve on that.

There is no Ilias Chair in the QPR line up today. Andre Gray and Lyndon Dykes will carry the bulk of the attacking threat.

  20. Blackburn v Huddersfield kick-off delayedpublished at 13:57 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2022

    Blackburn v Huddersfield (14:15 GMT)

It sounds like there's going to be a bumper crowd at Ewood Park this afternoon, with fans queuing to get inside the ground.

Of course there are also the Covid passes which need to be checked, which takes time.
