FT: Ayr United 1-1 Hamilton Accies

Speaking to BBC Scotland, Ayr United manager Jim Duffy has said: "You're never happy with a draw, especially at home. However, with how the game went I suppose a point is a fair result.

"I think we had the best chances in the second half to win all three points but we didn't take them.

"Overall, it was a tough match, and a 1-1 draw was probably a fair result."

Speaking to BBC Scotland Ayr United's Tomi Adeloye has said: "To get something out of the game is obviously a positive.

"We created enough chances and need to be more clinical, I take responsibility for that also. We just need to be more clinical.

"On another day, when it falls for you, you score more goals than that today."

On his goal, he added: "Houston did all the work for me with that quality of the pass, he made my job easy."

After Lewis Smith's opener before the break, Tomi Adeloye levelled for Ayr United after the restart.

Honours even is probably a fair result with both sides having promising spells of attacking play.

Adeloye may feel disappointed having squandered a number of golden chances for Ayr United this evening.

Five minutes left on the clock and Ayr United are awarded a free-kick in a position you could hardly place the ball in better if you were given the chance.

Step up Joe Chalmers...who skies it so high it crashes off the top of the stand behind the goal. Could be the last chance for Ayr United in this match.

  10. CLOSE!published at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2021

Cameron Salkeld has his effort deflected narrowly wide with the clock ticking down to full-time.

Huge chance for Ayr United and a huge block from Josh Mullin.

On the one hand, he'll be happy to be taking a free-kick in his own box. On the other hand, he'll be devastated that save hasn't counted as it was magnificent. He's looked very assured tonight.

Charlie Albinson makes an incredible save in the Ayr United goal from a David Moyo header.

Moyo was deemed to have fouled his marker but the keeper had to stay alert with a remarkable stop.

Neither side can get a foot on the ball now with it frequently pin-balling around in the middle of the park.

At the risk of jinxing it completely, it feels like the next goal — if there is one — is going to be the winner tonight at Somerset Park.

  14. Postpublished at 21:13 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2021

    Ayr United 1-1 Hamilton Accies

The tempo has picked up significantly since the frequent lulls we had in the first half.

Twenty minutes to go - is there a winner in this one?

Thumbs up for Ayr, thumbs down for Hamilton

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:08 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2021

    Ayr United 1-1 Hamilton Accies

Ayr United break from the halfway line with - guess who - Tomi Adeloye running in behind. He seems to have too much time to think about it and stumbles slightly as he sets himself for his shot that was ultimately saved.

Had he lifted his head, he could've squared it to Daire O'Connor for a tap-in.

The number nine seems certain to decide the outcome of this one way or another.

The ref must have filled his whistle up at half-time. He let a lot flow in the first half, but he's turned up for the second.

It's one that Moyo has to go for but, as an attacker, I'm not convinced that it should be a foul on the goalie.

Hamilton float in a set piece and David Moyo goes for it with his head. As he leaps, he clatters into Ayr keeper Charlie Albinson and the referee gives the free-kick to the shot-stopper.

  19. CLOSE!published at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2021

    Ayr United 1-1 Hamilton Accies

A deflected cut-back finds its way to Josh Mullin on the penalty spot. His left-footed effort narrowly edges wide.

Mullin likely would have preferred that to fall on his more favoured right foot.

  20. goal

GOAL Ayr United 1-1 Hamilton Acciespublished at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2021

    Tomi Adeloye

At last! He's got his goal.

Jordan Houston flights an enticing ball into the box and Tomi Adeloye peels off his man and is in space between two defenders six yards out. He leaps and heads the ball into the net, leaving no chance for Joe Hilton in the Accies' goal.

A great move from Ayr United it has to be said.
