  1. CLOSE!published at 60mins

    Hibernian 1-1 Celtic

Celtic have responded to that equaliser and are piling on the pressure looking for a second.

A cross-come-shot from midfielder Tom Rogic looks like it might creep in at the back post before goalkeeper Matt Macey stretches to touch it wide and, from the corner, centre-half Carl Starfelt's header spins wide of the far post.

This game has come alive! Hibs will be kicking themselves. It's a long ball over the top and Hanlon is looking for offside before Kyogo tucks it home with a great touch and finish. What a reaction from Celtic

There's a hint of offside about Kyogo's goal. The replays are not conclusive, but he looks to be ahead of the line. Either way, Hibs have to deal with the situation far better

    Quote Message

Kyogo's first-touch is sensational. What a reaction from Celtic. Maybe he was a gamble to start today, but that quashes any panic from Hibs going in front for Celtic

  5. 'Hanlon's desire made that goal'published at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

    Hibernian 1-1 Celtic

The desire from Hanlon to go and win the ball - wonderful! It is very, very poor marking from Starfelt and he was poor before the corner was given too

GOAL Hibernian 1-1 Celticpublished at 51mins

    Kyogo Furuhashi

    Immediate retaliation...

From hero to zero in a matter of seconds as Paul Hanlon allows Kygo Furuhashi to race clear and prod under goalkeeper Matt Macey for the Celtic striker's 15th goal of the season.

  7. goal

GOAL Hibernian 1-0 Celticpublished at 50mins

    Paul Hanlon

Out of the blue - or green!

Hibs' first effort on goal, first on target and it's the first goal of the League Cup final.

Celtic pay for a poor defensive header from Carl Starfelt that concedes a corner, Martin Boyle's cross is met by Paul Hanlon and the Hibs centre-half's downward header is ruled to have crossed the line despite attempts by defender Josip Juranovic and goalkeeper Joe Hart to save it on the line.

One wonders what VAR might have said, but the Hibs joy is instant.

    Ouch!published at 48mins

    Hibernian 0-0 Celtic

Hibs right-back Paul McGinn is down clutching his knee after an awkward and painful looking collision with Celtic winger Mikey Johnston.

  9. Postpublished at 46mins

    Hibernian 0-0 Celtic

Play is quickly up the Hibs end again and the Edinburgh side's defence is all over the place as centre-half Ryan Porteous slips and allows Kygo Furuhashi space to charge towards the penalty box, but a good recovery tackle from Paul Hanlon concedes a corner that is cleared.

  10. KICK-OFF SECOND HALFpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

    Hibernian 0-0 Celtic

Hibs get the second half under way - a rare bit of possession for the team in their change white strip.

They will be happy to have contained Celtic at least, but the fans in a packed Hampden will be hoping for better play from both sides in the second half of what should be a showcase occasion.

Celtic might have had a penalty for McGinn's push on Taylor. He had two hands on his back - I've seen a million penalties given for less

Celtic have dominated possession and Hibs have set out to frustrate them. Celtic's crossing has been pathetic. You need a bit of quality, class, precision to find your lone striker, Kyogo, who has had barely any opportunities. The two wide players - Johnston and Abada - are lacking quality

  16. HALF-TIME Hibernian 0-0 Celticpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2021

The whistle goes for half-time as, not for the first time, Kygo Furuhashi goes down easily inside the Hibs penalty box and the boos ring out from the Leith contingent directed at the Celtic striker.

In truth, there haven't been too many thrills and spills in the first half of this League Cup final.

It's been all Celtic and it seems just a matter of time before they find a killer blow against a Hibs team devoid of forward thinking.

The only thing missing from Celtic has been that final pass to open up Hibs, get the opportunity and to put the ball in the net. They haven't been able to slice open the Hibs defence yet. Postecoglou will be happy enough so far, though

  20. YELLOW CARD Nisbet (Hibernian)published at 43mins

    Hibernian 0-0 Celtic

Celtic full-back Josip Juranovic wastefully fires a free-kick well over the crossbar.

It comes after Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet is next to be booked after a foul on Nir Bitton.
