Scottish Championship
Hearts enjoy a first home Scottish Premiership win over Ross County since 2015 with an ultimately comfortable win at Tynecastle.
Michael Smith's early goal and Ben Woodburn's deflected finish made it 2-0 at the break, but it could have been more with John Souttar twice hitting the woodwork.
Jordan White pulled one back for County, but the visitors could not find a second as third-placed Hearts held on to earn back-to-back wins for the first time since the beginning of October.
County remain in 10th, with Dundee and St Johnstone below them both failing to win.
Kevin van Veen’s double, including a stunning free-kick in the first half, seals all three points for Motherwell.
Livingston replied late in the game through substitute Bruce Anderson but it was a case of too little, too late for David Martindale’s side.
Motherwell could have had more but Kaiyne Woolery failed to keep the ball under control and Sean Goss’ effort was met by Max Stryjek, who had a busy match.
Jamie Murphy's goal is the last kick of the ball at Tannadice as new Hibs boss Shaun Maloney makes it two wins from two.
He was screaming at Murphy to keep the ball in the corner too...
There were shades of offside about Kevin Nisbet's opener, while Chris Cadden swept in his first goal for Hibs after the interval.
Declan Glass conjured the moment of the match with a glorious solo goal for Dundee United, but Hibs were on top for long spells and the two-goal margin was thoroughly deserved.
Jamie Murphy
Done and dusted.
Jamie Murphy cuts in off the left, his pass comes back to him off a defender and he curls home Hibs' third goal. Ben Siegrist got a hand to the shot and will be disappointed not to keep it out.
Aberdeen nudge up to sixth place thanks to Lewis Ferguson's second-half strike.
Leigh Griffiths powered in a wonderful free-kick for Dundee, but Ryan Hedges hit back almost straight away.
Rangers take a six-point Premiership lead into the winter break.
First-half goals from Scott Wright and Alfredo Morelos were enough, but it could have been much, much more.
St Mirren's winless run extends to 11 games.
Declan Glass
What a goal. United stood and watched as Tom Rogic waltzed through their defence and scored a pearler a few weeks back.
This is just as good. Declan Glass weaves past four Hibs players before firing a left-footed shot high into the net from the edge of the penalty area. Wow!
Goal of the season contender.
Aberdeen 2-1 Dundee
Dundee almost level!
Paul McGowan's free-kick on the halfway line is nodded down by Shaun Byrne and Liam Fontaine tries desperately to convert but Aberdeen scramble clear.
Dundee United 0-2 Hibernian
Matt Macey comes to punch clear from a corner, but the Hibs goalkeeper gets it all wrong as he steers the ball back towards his own net. It's going wide but a defender on the post makes sure.
Bruce Anderson
James Penrice fires a low, searching cross into the box and Anderson manages to get on the end of it to sweep it home.
A nervy end to the game coming for Motherwell now, with Livingston set to throw everything at them.
Hearts 2-1 Ross County
Fine save from Craig Gordon as Harry Clarke bursts past two players then fires a shot straight at the Scotland goalkeeper, as Ross County push for a leveller.
Motherwell 2-0 Livingston
Livingston are enjoying their best spell of possession in this half but the game looks too far gone for them to mount a comeback now.
Still no cutting edge but certainly no lack of determination from David Martindale's side.
Aberdeen 2-1 Dundee
David Bates is the last forward after the ball is returned from a cleared corner but the Aberdeen defender's attempted lob does not trouble Adam Legzdins in the Dundee goal.
The Dons have continued to press since going ahead and that has really limited the chance of a Dundee comeback so far. The depleted visitors look like they will finish this match with the XI they started with.
Josh Mullin
Hearts 2-1 Ross County
Ross County are having plenty of the ball as they search for an equaliser, but are perhaps guilty of over passing it. They're not creating anything and time is running out.
Rangers 2-0 St Mirren
Rangers substitute Scott Arfield tries to bend a finish into the far corner, but it's dropped just wide.
Anton Dowds
Rangers 2-0 St Mirren
How's that not gone in?
Scott Wright skips down the right and drills a shot across goal, but Alfredo Morelos scuffs his finish well wide.
Chris Cadden
Game over, surely? Jake Doyle-Hayes feeds Martin Boyle down the right. The Hibs talisman cuts in and tees up Chris Cadden to sweep home his first Hibs goal.
Lovely move.
