    So close yet so far. It's a familiar story for Northern Ireland as their Nations League misery continues.

    There are ways to lose a game of football and we took the game to them. We started the game really well and to find ourselves two goals down could have shell-shocked us but we stayed resolute and stayed positive in possession. We knew how difficult it was going to be. It was a good test and I think we have matched them. That all bodes well for the future. This is a building plan and this is the bigger picture. More performances like that will get results.

    We were played off the park for 75 or 80 minutes. We've got to be able to play better against sides ranked similarly to Kosovo. Cyrus, Kosovo and Greece are technically good sides, but defensively I think they're poor, but we don't expose them enough.

    We're disappointed. We're on that sort of run at the minute where every little mistake gets punished and the ball won't go in the net up the other end. On another night we could have walked away with at least a draw. It's a pity we didn't get a result to give the travelling fans something to cheer about.

    We're obviously going to be disappointed with the result but I thought we showed great character to come back from 2-0 and 3-1 to have a real chance of nicking a draw at the end. I thought our performance was a lot better and if you are going to lose a game of football it is that way. The three results haven't been good enough and we want to make that right on Sunday against Cyprus. I know if we play like we did tonight we will come away with a good result.

    Northern Ireland need a result on Sunday, no matter what. It's simply a must win. I don't understand why Shea Charles hasn't started the games. He looks head and shoulders above the rest of the players from what we have seen in recent games.

    Football management is a results based business, and the results aren't there. The performances aren't good too. The performance from start to finish, as John said, was embarrassing at times.

    3-2 certainly flattered us. It's really disappointing. Kosovo panicked a bit at the end but overall they were worthy winners.

    Kosovo passed the ball better than us, controlled the game better than us. Kosovo thoroughly deserve their victory. They had a shape and a form which was clear and they knew what to do. With Northern Ireland you don't now what we're trying to do.
