I don't understand bringing McMenamin off. For me, he has been the only one who has provided anything going forward in the second half. Unless he has a knock or is severely tired, but he doesn’t look like. He is the one who has provided all the impetus.

20 minutes to go until this Nations League misery is over for another few months.

Unless, that is, there is an unexpected final twist.

    Like for like all round.

We can talk about the fact we have our games in ten days and absentees and they may be a mitigating factor, but I don't think they account for the performances shown

  7. CLOSE!published at 15:22 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Northern Ireland 0-2 Cyprus

Conor McMenamin works himself some space and plays in a deep cross. Brodie Spencer was arriving but his header hits the defender.

There were hopeful appeals for a penalty but there was nothing doing there.

    Brilliant from McMenamin!

Jordan Thompson whips in a brilliant free-kick but Kyle Lafferty can only direct it well over on the stretch.

  9. Clear message from The Koppublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Mark Sterling

"We want Bara out". It's a clear message from The Kop as they let the Northern Ireland manager know their feelings.

This is becoming rudderless for Northern Ireland.

They just keep plummeting to new depths. Their start to the second half was abject and that goal has left Windsor Park stunned.

It doesn't feel like the team have a reaction in them here, either.

Ian Baraclough has just taken Shayne Lavery and Shea Charles off, and there were boos from The Kop as the duo trudged past behind the net.

Where do Northern Ireland go from here?

Northern Ireland are just going to have to throw bodies forward at this stage and take the chance at the back.

I'm booing too. Unless there is an injury there why would you take Shayne Lavery off?

You can hear the response to that substitution, the crowd aren’t happy. It's like for like in terms of Whyte replacing Lavery on the right.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

Gavin Whyte and Jordan Thompson are on for Northern Ireland.

Shayne Lavery is off, to the surprise of most people, and Shea Charles is the other man to make way.

The astonishing thing about this is that it is Cyprus. It is not as if this is a fluke however, they deserve to be ahead, they can pass the ball better than us. They seem to want it a whole lot more than we do.

  16. Postpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Northern Ireland 0-2 Cyprus

Ian Baraclough targeted four wins from four ahead of this quartet of games.

With 35 minutes to play they are staring at three defeats and one draw.

It's awful, absolutely awful. They have got what they deserved. There is no leadership or quality and their backs are against the wall against an average Cyprus team.

GOAL - Northern Ireland 0-2 Cypruspublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Andronikos Kakoulli (52 mins)

    Oh my word...

Northern Ireland have been flat since the restart and Cyprus cut them open.

Marinos Tzionis scuffs a shot across goal and Kakoulli taps into the empty net.

There's a quick VAR check for offside but the goal stands.

  20. Good luck girlspublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 12 June 2022

    Northern Ireland 0-1 Cyprus

    Mark Sterling
BBC Sport NI at Windsor Park

The Northern Ireland women's squad were on the pitch at half-time to receive good-luck wishes from the Windsor Park crowd for their upcoming Euros adventure in England.

Hardly the mood they'd like to be doing that in, but they still got a nice ovation from the fans.

It was a welcome distraction from what had happened here on the pitch today, at least.
