Only three games remain for Wales before they make a long-awaited return to football's grandest stage.

Wales' World Cup opener against the USA is a little over five months away and the clock is ticking for those with work to do to ensure they will be on the flight no player wants to miss.

Memphis Depay missed an added-time penalty as Netherlands fell short of completing a famous fightback in a Nations League draw against Poland last Saturday.

Louis van Gaal's side dominated for long periods but fell behind to Matty Cash's angled drive from 20 yards.

Przemyslaw Frankowski then beat the Dutch offside trap to tee up a tap in for Piotr Zielinski to extend the Poles' lead just after the break.

But Davy Klaassen prodded in for the hosts before Denzel Dumfries levelled.

And after appearing to be in serious trouble, the Dutch almost made it three wins from three in their Nations League campaign when Cash was adjudged to have handled late on after a VAR check.

However, Barcelona forward Depay sliced his penalty and saw it deflect away off the right post.

It's been a test for every nation, you can see that by the amount of changes every nation has made in the three games up to now that they've played.

Testament to these lads and their fitness levels, they should be lying on a beach somewhere, it's been quite remarkable what they've done.

What's pleased me is the way we've competed in the top tier of this Nations League. We don't look out of place.

Here's the Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam, or De Kuip ('the Tub') as it's often called.

Rob Page has made four changes to the Wales side which earned a late point against Belgium on Saturday.

There's a first start of the international window for Huddersfield's Sorba Thomas, in place of Connor Roberts at right wing-back, and on the other flank Wes Burns replaces Neco Williams.

Gareth Bale is rested, and in his place starts Saturday's late hero Brennan Johnson, whose goal against Belgium was his first for Wales.

The final change sees Matt Smith start in midfield in place of the injured Joe Allen.

Bale and Aaron Ramsey are both on the bench, as is Cardiff City youngster Oliver Denham, who could make his Wales debut if called upon.

Since impressing off the bench against Belgium, Rubin Colwill has suffered a knock and is not part of Page's squad this evening.

As he did in Cardiff last week, Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal has made wholesale changes.

Last Wednesday it was the full 11, today he's gone one fewer and made 10 changes - Barcelona's Frankie De Jong the only player who also started in their 2-2 draw with Poland last time out.

Teun Koopmeiners, who opened the scoring at the Cardiff City Stadium, returns in midfield but the goalscorer of the winner on that occasion, Wout Weghorst, starts on the bench.

Welcome to the 189th international game this season, or so it probably feels for Wales' exhausted players.

It's been a bad time for Wales to be playing at the high rollers' table in the Nations League this summer - because all attention for Robert Page's side has rightly been focused on World Cup qualification.

That dream is fulfilled, Wales fans' hearts are full, but they are bottom of group A4, with just one point from three games, a mere footnote (the paper jokes continue) ahead of tonight's daunting trip to group leaders the Netherlands.

Louis van Gaal's side have seven points from their opening three games and would have a perfect nine if they had converted an injury-time penalty last time out against Poland.

Tonight looks a tough ask for Wales, but they've proven time and time again that they can be competitive against the very best teams.
