We have a crowd in tonight and they will be raised by the team getting in and around Hungary and making it difficult for them,

"We were pleased with what Aaron Ramsdale did the other day against Italy and this is another step in his development with the supporters in.

"We have recovered from the defeat in Budapest and put two strong performances in. Now we have to get the win, there is always the expectation with England, we have a full house and we want the crowd to leave excited like they were before the game in the streets."

There's a lot of talk about England being 'boring' and 'conservative'.

But Gareth Southgate's men haven’t conceded more than one goal in any of their last 25 games in all competitions, shipping just eight goals in the process.

The last team to net more than once against the Three Lions were Belgium in November 2020 in the Nations League (2-0).

England manager Gareth Southgate says the term 'Wags' is "disrespectful".

A documentary has reportedly been proposed, following the England players' wives and girlfriends before the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Southgate said the idea is "not my cup of tea" and that he would "be surprised" if it comes to fruition.

"I don't like the term. It's their partners and family," he said. "We want them to feel welcome."

The phrase 'Wag' came into common use during the 2006 World Cup, when pop stars Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole were among the partners who travelled to Germany with the England squad and regularly featured in the British tabloid newspapers.

England manager Gareth Southgate has warned the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho they have "a lot to do" to get into England's World Cup squad.

The Three Lions are five months away from heading to Qatar, with September's two Nations League fixtures all that remain after facing Hungary on Tuesday.

Harry Maguire is the only Manchester United player involved in the England set-up this month.

Luke Shaw has been regaining fitness while Rashford and Sancho missed out.

Southgate last month said the pair still have time to work their way into his World Cup plans, but he has now admitted it is an uphill battle for them to seal their place.

England have gone from being fuelled by the goodwill of a nation to hearing stirrings of discontent and grumblings about conservatism within the space of 12 months.

This time last year, Gareth Southgate's England had opened a delayed Euro 2020 Finals with victory over Croatia at Wembley before riding a wave of euphoria to their first major final in 55 years, losing agonisingly on penalties to Italy.

Fast forward to the present day and England inhabit a rather world-weary environment, with both players and supporters perhaps suffering from football fatigue and Southgate's squad under the microscope amid fears they have not kicked on as hoped.

England midfielder Conor Gallagher tells Channel 4: "I am excited to play. I have been on the bench the last few games and been waiting patiently. I will bring energy and do what I can do best, that is what the boss has told me to do. Hopefully we can get the result.

"I feel good, I know a few of the lads have played a few more games than me. In training it is intense, it is good but I am fit and ready to play, work as hard as I can.

"Jude Bellingham likes to get forward like me so we will pick our times when to go and when not to. Kalvin Phillips is solid defensively and I think it will work well.

"We have deserved more than we got. We have played well against top teams in the last two game and finish off with a win and three points tonight."

Costa Rica have taken an early lead after only three minutes of the Intercontinental play-off against New Zealand.

The goal came from ex-Arsenal man Joel Campbell with a low shot into the bottom corner from 12 yards out after Jewison Bennette's pull back from the left to leave his country on course to claim the 32nd and final place at this year's World Cup.

Liverpool have announced the signing of Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

The 22-year-old has signed a six year contract and the move is subject to international clearance and work permit approval.

The initial fee is £64m and will rise to a potential £85m if he reaches every milestone during his time at the club – with add-ons ranging from scoring goals to winning the Champions League.

It is likely the fee will hit the £75m mark if Nunez plays regularly, with Liverpool’s club record transfer being the £75m they paid to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in 2018.

Scotland have thumped the mighty Armenia 4-1 in Group B1 of the Nations League.

England boss Gareth Southgate has been out to survey the playing surface, which looks in great shape. On his way back to the tunnel one young fan was shouting for a wave and the gaffer happily obliged.

Southgate has taken some flack recently, the heady days of wasitcoasts, World Cup semis and a Euros final appearance feeling like a distant memory.

England have failed to score in seven of their 15 Nations League games (47%).

In fact, seven of the last eight times Gareth Southgate's men have failed to find the net in all competitions have been in this tournament.

Wolves fans have expressed excitement about watching England men's team play at their home stadium.

The Three Lions face Hungary in the Nations League at Molineux tonight and fans said games like this "don't come around very often".

Jason Guy has been a season ticket holder for 30 years and will be watching the game with former Wolves player Jackie Gallagher.

"It's been 66 years since England last played at Molineux," said Mr Guy.

"It's good it's not being played at Wembley as it gives everyone else a chance to watch England."
