Can we get an injury-time winner?

I am a big fan of Nick Pope. It's not his kicking, but for his actual handling. This is a howler.

The ball just bounced in front of him and down to his left-hand side. It's a standard catch for a goalkeeper and do hundreds of those every week in training. Shot from Gnabry and Pope just spills it. Havertz was alert as ever and prods it in.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 90+1 mins

    England 3-3 Germany

The excellent Jude Bellingham goes off for England, with Jordan Henderson coming on for the six minutes of injury time.

It's an international debut for Southampton's Armel Bella-Kotchap, replacing two-goal Kai Havertz for Germany.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 90 mins

    England 3-3 Germany

Bukayo Saka is through on goal with only Marc-Andre Ter Stegen to beat. The Arsenal man shoots low and hard with his right foot, but Ter Stegen does well to get down to the shot and push it wide.

So close to an England winner.

    Kai Havertz (86 mins)

    Nick Pope should do better.

England are pegged back and it is poor goalkeeping from Pope, who spills a shot from Serge Gnabry and it is a gift for Kai Havertz and the Chelsea man has the simple task to tap in the rebound for his second goal of the night.

What a penalty! Harry Kane whips the ball into the top corner and goes across Ter Stegen who has absolutely has no chance. Three goalkeepers would never save that penalty.

    It's a brilliant penalty.

You can see how much that meant to the players and the management. The celebrations are going off everywhere. Incredible penalty from Kane too!

    Harry Kane (penalty)

From 2-0 down to 3-2 up!

There's no saving that one! Harry Kane blasts the penalty into the top corner and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is never getting to that one. Brilliant spot-kick.

After 70 minutes England were 2-0 down, 14 minutes later it is 3-2 to them. Brilliant fightback!

Gareth Southgate's changes have been superb and England are in the lead.

  9. PENALTY to Englandpublished at 21:28 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    England 2-2 Germany

For the second time, a penalty is awarded after a VAR check and a pitchside check on a monitor. Harry Kane could put England ahead

England could have a penalty now. We had a few minutes more action, with Harry Kane shooting wide. But now the referee goes to check on that Nico Schlotterbeck challenge on Jude Bellingham.

    England 2-2 Germany

Jude Bellingham goes down on the edge of the penalty area and stays down. How is this not a penalty? He's been caught on the ankle by a sliding Nico Schlotterbeck.

Wembley had gone flat after the second of those Germany goals went in, but now it's exactly the atmosphere you would expect in an England-Germany match at Wembley.

Those goals have completely transformed the mood at Wembley. Declan Rice slides in, then Mason Mount with a full-stretch old-fashioned no-nonsense sliding challenge to crank up the noise even more.

That's magnificent from Mount. I thought Sterling was a threat, but that play from Saka direct and then the ball slipped into Mount [on the right side of the box] 18 yards out. Fizzes a right foot effort into the corner and beats Ter Stegen at his far post. No blame attached to the goalkeeper. Too much pace and precision.

  14. On to win it?published at 21:22 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

Here we go! Finally, England click into gear and score two goals from open play. You can see the players were trying to make something happen and they've done it. It's a totally different atmosphere in Wembley now.

    Mason Mount

    Two goals in three minutes!

The substitutes combine and England are level. It is a great run from Bukayo Saka, direct and forceful at the Germany defence, he lays it off to Mason Mount and it's a truly brilliant, curling powerful strike from 20 yards out that gives Marc-Andre Ter Stegen no chance.

Wembley is bouncing. Doom and gloom five minutes ago, to hope England can win it now.

    Luke Shaw (England, 71 mins)

    Hope for England.

Luke Shaw at the back post gets the goal after great work from Jude Bellingham, who had produced a fine cross from the right after linking up with substitute Bukayo Saka.

Shaw's strike is down into the ground, but just has enough power to beat Marc-Andre Ter Stegen with the ball just crossing the line before the sliding Niklas Sule can clear it.

That's only the second goal England have scored in this Nations League campaign.

    England 0-2 Germany

Jude Bellingham tries his luck from 25 yards out but you will have to do better than that to beat a goalkeeper of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen's quality, who gets his body behind the ball and comfortably deals with the strike.

    Hungary 0-2 Italy

Italy still lead Hungary 2-0 in Budapest.

Roberto Mancini's side are 20 minutes away from joining Croatia and the Netherlands in next year's finals.

Portugal or Spain will take the final place on Tuesday.

    England 0-2 Germany

Phil Foden was barely in the game for England.

A quick look at the stats shows he only had 27 touches of the ball each.

That's the joint-least amount of touches by any England outfield player (alongside Harry Kane) that started this match, bar John Stones who limped off injured earlier.

Kane unlike Foden will get the chance to add to his tally.

  20. goal

GOAL - England 0-2 Germanypublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 26 September 2022

    Kai Havertz (67 mins)

Timo Werner and Kai Havertz link up and it is a great finish from Havertz as he curls the ball into the net from 20 yards out.

Wembley is silent. Germany two up and England heading for yet another loss. Trouble for England and trouble for Gareth Southgate.
