That was a nice welcome for Ian Baraclough and his coaching staff as they made their way over to the dugout, which is right in front of the Northern Ireland fans.

A quick chat with opposite number Gus Poyet and then it was ready for the anthems.

    Nearly showtime...

    Quote Message

If you look back to that night (his debut against Spain) he had an absolutely brilliant game at left-back. We saw photographs of him today and he looked such a young guy then. But when you look at him and you look at Steve Davis, right from the first time you saw him you knew this guy was special.

  9. No Corry on big brother's big nightpublished at 19:32 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

Greece v Northern Ireland (19:45 kick off)

    Mark Sterling
    BBC Sport NI in Athens

There was a strong case for Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough to go with the same side that beat Kosovo on Saturday.

He hasn't, though, and instead has made three changes. With Corry Evans being replaced in midfield by Ali McCann, it means he misses out on starting alongside big brother Jonny on his 100th cap.

Jordan Thompson replaces George Saville in midfield but the player most unlucky to lose his place in the starting line-up is probably striker Dion Charles.

The Bolton forward looked lively throughout his first start at the weekend, though his replacement tonight - Shayne Lavery - did make a good impact when he came off the bench against Kosovo.

It's a huge night for boss Baraclough and he will no doubt have thought long and hard about what team to play. Let's see if he has made the right calls.

  13. Put relegation fears aside - Baracloughpublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

Greece v Northern Ireland (19:45 GMT)

Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough has called on his players to "take care of business" against Greece and not let the threat of Nations League relegation impact them.

His side go into their final Group C2 game in Athens on Tuesday in third place after ending a 14-game winless run in the competition by beating Kosovo on Saturday.

NI must at least match Cyprus' result against Kosovo to avoid a relegation play-off.

"When we first got together for the international window, it [relegation] was something that I spoke about, that we make sure that by the end of these 10 days we are still in the same group that we are in," Baraclough said.

  14. McMenamin apology over videopublished at 19:26 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

Greece v Northern Ireland (19:45 GMT)

Conor McMenamin has apologised for the video of him that surfaced on social media before Northern Ireland's Nations League match against Kosovo.

The Glentoran forward was withdrawn from the squad hours before Saturday's win over Kosovo.

He was then reinstated by the Irish Football Association (IFA) disciplinary committee and is able to face Greece.

"The video in question was made a long time ago. I am sorry and I regret it. We all make mistakes," said McMenamin.

  15. Anyone for volleyball?published at 19:25 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

Greece v Northern Ireland (19:45 kick off)

I think it's fair to say the Georgios Kamaras Stadium falls into the 'rickety' category.

Small and tight, there is not much that is modern about it. There is an indoor volleyball court behind the net where the Northern Ireland team are currently warming up, mind you, so it's multi-purpose at least.

The Greeks have been very welcoming hosts, though, with some of the local journalists revealing that there is a general apathy in Athens towards the national team.

The home fans are only gathering in pockets in the stands so far, with all the atmosphere being generated by the travelling fans.

  18. Sanchez's stomping groundpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

Greece v Northern Ireland (19:45 kick off)

    Mark Sterling
    BBC Sport NI in Athens

Northern Ireland fans may have seen their old friend Lawrie Sanchez pop up in a few videos online over the last few days.

He was the manager who gave Jonny Evans that memorable debut against Spain back in 2006, and he has joined with many others in congratulating the defender on winning his 100th cap tonight.

What many of them might not know is that, in a nice bit of symmetry that football sometimes throws up, Sanchez managed Greek side Apollon Smyrnis in this Georgios Kamaras Stadium, for five months from November 2013.

Greece v Northern Ireland (19:45 BST)

On Tuesday night in Athens against Greece, Evans, now 34 and Leicester City captain, is set to win his 100th international cap in Northern Ireland's final Nations League game.

Former Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez set Evans on his way by giving him his debut in a memorable Windsor Park victory over Spain in 2006.

  20. 'I realised what playing for NI means' - defender set to win 100th cappublished at 19:14 British Summer Time 27 September 2022

Greece v Northern Ireland (19:45 GMT)

As he prepares to win his 100th international cap, Jonny Evans says he has learned to appreciate playing for Northern Ireland more and more as he has grown older.

Evans, 34, will become NI's fourth men's centurion - joining Pat Jennings, Aaron Hughes and current team-mate Steven Davis - in Tuesday night's final Nations League game against Greece.
