The floodlights are on already at Goodison Park - and in truth it is a little bit chilly - but we have had blue sky here all afternoon and there was definitely a feeling that spring is in the air.
That's good news, unless you are in a relegation battle - this is a bad time of the year for any team to be sucked down towards the bottom three, as Everton are right now - they are now perched just one place above the relegation zone after Newcastle's win earlier.
At the other end of the table, Premier League leaders Manchester City are also badly in need of the three points as we head into the business end of the season. They have Everton's Merseyside neighbours Liverpool breathing down their necks and, with the Reds in Sunday's Carabao Cup final, this weekend is a chance for City to extend their lead, after seeing it whittled down to three points in the past few weeks.

Man Utd 0-0 Watford
Manchester United
Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick told Match of the Day:
“We did everything apart from score. It’s hard to take that result. In the end, if you miss that many chances it is difficult to win the game. We were in full control for almost the whole game, we didn’t allow them hardly any counter attacks.
“We need to be sharper in front of goal, you can hardly create more chances than we did today. In the end it is a very frustrating afternoon.
“Had anyone told me that we would create that many clear chances I would have said ‘yes, that is enough for us to score one of two goals at least’. But we didn’t.
On Ronaldo hitting the post: "That was not the only one [chance]. In the first half we had five massive chances then in the second half we had another three or four. Today we had enough chances to win that game.
"Sometimes we are unlucky, when we hit the post, but we also had a few opportunities one-on-one with the goalkeeper. This is not luck, it is a question of sharpness and efficiency in-front of goal."

Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live
Everton have become a victim of modern-day football. Their strongest players are at the top end of the field, their weakest are at the back and yet Everton are allowing defender to have it and playing out from the back. They are consistently rolling the ball into midfield where the opposition, for example Newcastle and Southampton, are ready to press. The Man City team at Goodison Park will press from the front and will do it well.
I sometimes wonder, why is it so bad to knock the ball forward when you've got a big guy up front who likes to challenge, and you've got midfielders behind who can get up and win second balls? I think that would suit Everton better until the end of the season.
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
And that's it!
A big win for Aston Villa, but a third defeat on the bounce for Brighton.
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
Villa have defended very well today. Steven Gerrard's side took their goals well and haven't allowed Brighton any real chances since Ollie Watkins grabbed the second.
FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Burnley
Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira speaking to Sky Sports: "It was difficult. We knew how challenging that game was going to be. We conceded a goal when we knew we needed to be compact and that lack of concentration cost us.
"We had a game plan and the reason we played Jeffrey Schlupp in that position is because he has the pace to get in behind and he scored the goal.
"I am disappointed. We tried in the second half but we were missing something. At the end we had the momentum and had a couple of situations but they made it really difficult and all credit to them."
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
Three minutes of stoppage time. Can Brighton mount an unlikely comeback?!
FT: Brentford 0-2 Newcastle
Brentford
Brentford midfielder Christian Eriksen, speaking to Sky Sports: "If you take away the result. I'm one happy man. To go through what I've been through, being back is a wonderful feeling.
"Thomas [Frank] didn't say much [when I came on]. I've been speaking to him every day for the last few weeks. He just said good luck and enjoy the game.
"You can never predict the game. I don't think anyone predicted we'd be down to 10 men so early. The guys did what they could. It was a good fight in the end.
"It's been very special since day one. [Brentford] have taken good care of me. Everyone's been really happy about it and everyone's been really helpful.
"Everyone is here. My family, my parents, my kids, my mother in law and some doctors who have been helping me back and forth. What they've been through is even tougher than what I've been through.
"I think everyone knows every game is very important. I think everyone's very focused on staying up. Nobody's naive, but everyone's focused on their job. The confidence is definitely there to stay up."
On his aims for the rest of the season: "First of all to get the feeling and touch back, that football feeling, and to help Brentford stay in the Premier League."
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
It's all gone a bit flat at the Amex. Brighton seemed resigned to making it three matches without a goal and three defeats in a row.
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
Final change for Aston Villa and it will be a debut for 18-year-old English midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, who joined from West Brom last year, and comes on for Philippe Coutinho.
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
Emi Martinez picks up a card to match his shirt, dished out for a spot of time wasting.
FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Burnley
Burnley
Burnley boss Sean Dyche speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “One loss in seven now. The mentality is firm and their were a lot of good performances and we have had a lot of travelling in the last week with Brighton as well.
"We played a bit sluggishly, slow and played too many backwards passes in the first half. In the second half we really applied ourselves to try and win the game. We just needed to be a bit sharper and a bit crisper.
"Historically we are strong in the second half of the season and we have shown that today."
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
Brighton are collecting the ball in decent positions but without really troubling Villa.
Yves Bissouma overhits a cross from the left and Tariq Lamptey responds by doing similar from the right.
FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Burnley
Burnley
Burnley boss Sean Dyche speaking to Sky Sports: “It is a tough place and it is a seven-point week so I am pleased overall. There was not a lot in it in the first half but they had a bit more edge to their play, maybe we were a bit sluggish.
"Fantastic reaction, and the appetite to get us through this spell has been enormous.
"The big journey down yesterday did not help. Half time made a big difference there was not much in it they just had a bit of an edge but we started bright and asked a question. I think both sides would take it [a draw]."
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
Tariq Lamptey races into the area but John McGinn tracks him well. Brighton fans want a penalty, but the verdict is corner.
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
Neal Maupay works some space on the edge of the box once more and this time gets a shot off, but it's easy for goalkeeper Emi Martinez to get down and gather.
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
Another change for Aston Villa, and it's Ashley Young who comes on for Danny Ings as Steven Gerrard looks to shore things up.
Brighton 0-2 Aston Villa
Neal Maupay with half a chance but he takes a heavy touch on the edge of the area and the opportunity passes by. Brighton keep it alive, but Villa have plenty of shirts behind the ball.
