    And then it was four....

Fabio Carvalho turns provider this time for Tom Cairney to slot home another for the hosts.

Captain Cairney picks up his side-foot pass on the edge of the area and finds the inside of the right post to make it 4-0.

  2. League Two latestpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

After a delayed start to the match, and then subsequent stoppages, the heavy fog now means tonight's game at Forest Green has been abandoned.

At least one thing that is clear in sight for the Gloucestershire side is their lead at the top of the table!

    Who else?

Billy Sharp hammers in the penalty for the Blades and suddenly, after a great start, Preston have a long way back if they are going to get anything out of this match.

  4. goal

    Make that three!!

Not long after that second goal, Fulham go 3-0 ahead as Fabio Carvalho glances in a glorious header across goal from Antonee Robinson's cross from the left.

Fulham in cruise control yet again.

  5. PENALTY TO SHEFFIELD UNITEDpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Preston 0-1 Sheffield United

Rhian Brewster was taken down by Preston defender Andrew Hughes, who is shown the red card.

A goal down and a man down, but it could be about to get worse for Ryan Lowe's side.

  6. League Two latestpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

The match has now been suspended between League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers and Mansfield for another 10 minutes and the players have gone into the dressing room to await a final decision.

Meanwhile, there is a goal to report at Stevenage, with Jake Taylor putting the hosts in front against Crawley with a near-post header.

  7. goal

GOAL: Fulham 2-0 Birmingham Citypublished at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Neeskens Kebano (35 mins)

Fulham haven't perhaps been at full throttle so far compared to their past two matches, but just like that they move into a 2-0 lead.

Harry Wilson's pass down the right to Denis Odoi, who then fired a low cross to the near post for Neeskens Kebano to meet at pace and rifle past Neil Etheridge into the roof of the net.

Yet another for Kebano who has four in his past three.

  8. League One latestpublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Still just the one goal in our three League One matches.

Morecambe ahead against Wigan thanks to Cole Stockton's early goal.

Struggling Doncaster almost took the lead against Cambridge but struck the crossbar from range through debutant Josh Martin with the best chance so far.

  9. Postpublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Preston 0-1 Sheffield United

After attacking their way through the opening stages tonight, without getting any reward, Preston look a little dejected.

They are still pushing to despond to Jayden Bogle's opener though, with Alan Browne a key creator, as ever.

The Irishman has delivered two great balls in during the last few minutes, with one just over the head of Brad Potts and the other a blocked cross.

  10. Postpublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Fulham 1-0 Birmingham City

Almost half an hour played and apart from Marc Roberts' own goal, there's not been much else of note to report.

Birmingham have managed to force a few corners though but haven't produced a delivery yet to cause Marek Rodak any alarms in Fulham's goal.

    Not often you see this.

Or should I say, don't see?

It is so foggy in the match between Forest Green and Mansfield that kick off had to be delayed, and the match has now been stopped for at least the next few minutes.

A decision is expected imminently on whether it can continue.

  12. Postpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Fulham 1-0 Birmingham City

Neil Etheridge makes amends for his earlier hesitancy for that Fulham goal.

He races off his line and out of his box to head away the chance of Harry Wilson getting on the end of a ball over the top of the Birmingham defence.

Brave but decisive from the Blues keeper that time.

  13. goal

GOAL: Preston 0-1 Sheffield Unitedpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Jayden Bogle (17 mins)

    Bogle goalImage source, Getty Images

This opener is largely against the run of play.

An initial shot came in from John Egan, which Preston keeper Daniel Iversen could only parry to Jayden Bogle, who keeps his composure and sees his shot deflect in.

  14. Postpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Preston 0-0 Sheffield United

Sheffield United's Wes Foderingham has continued his good start to the match, with Scott Sinclair the latest to test the Blades keeper after a quick counter-attack.

Don't forget, Foderingham is a player who has seen off the challenge of Sweden's first choice stopper Robin Olsen at Bramall Lane, with the former Everton player announced as leaving the club today and joining Aston Villa.

At the other end, Iliman Ndiaye has fired a dangerous shot just wide of goal for the visitors.

  15. League One updatepublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

Just the one goal in the three League One fixtures so far and it's a surprising one.

Cole Stockton has given Morecambe the lead after seven minutes against form side Wigan who are looking to try and close the gap on the top two.

Still goalless meanwhile between AFC Wimbledon and Portsmouth and Cambridge United and Doncaster.

  16. goal

GOAL: Fulham 1-0 Birmingham Citypublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Marc Roberts OG (10 mins)

    Oh dear!

Not the start that Birmingham City wanted and a moment to forget for Marc Roberts their centre-back.

Fulham take the lead as Tom Cairney sent a diagonal ball into their box that caused some confusion for goalkeeper Neil Etheridge as he hesitated to try and clear it before Aleksandar Mitrovic could get a touch.

The ball then bounces around the bodies in the box and off Roberts last before trickling into the net.

  17. League Two updatepublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    How's this for a debut?

Owura Edwards was recalled from his loan to Exeter City last week by parent club Bristol City, and sent back out to League Two Colchester yesterday.

He's scored three minutes into his debut for the club at Sutton.

The only downside is that Sutton have responded almost immediately, with Isaac Olaofe making it 1-1!

  18. Postpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Fulham 0-0 Birmingham City

Fulham won an early corner which they failed to make the most of as Birmingham cleared easily at the near post.

Onel Hernandez then fired well high and wide with an ambitious effort for Birmingham on the counter.

    Quiet start so far.

  19. Postpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2022

    Preston 0-0 Sheffield United

Tom Barkhuizen is one of two changes made by Preston manager Ryan Lowe tonight and he is eager to impress.

A lovely ball to the near post is met by Andrew Hughes, but his attempt at finishing is stopped smartly by Blades goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.
