On his return to Celtic Park, Hibernian boss Shaun Maloney tells BBC Sportsound: "I had some amazing years here, some tough ones, but I was very lucky to play under the managers I played under.

"We have to try and dominate the ball to create chances, we're going to try and do that tonight. It's a big step for us. I want to see the players have the intent to do that."

On debutant Rocky Bushiri, Maloney adds: "Rocky is really good technically, I'm asking him to be that good tonight. He's a real asset for us."

    Celtic v Hibernian (19:45)

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells BBC Scotland: "We’ve had a good 10 days preparation and some new boys in and some boys back form injuries too.

“We’d have had this break at some point anyway so we’re no different to anyone else, it was always going to give us a chance to work with their players and that’s what we’ve done.

“Hopefully we can excite the fans. I’m sure they’re looking forward to getting behind the team, we need to bring the same energy and intensity as we have before and send them home happy."

On Kyogo still being out injured he adds: "It's fair to say he hasn’t recovered from the injury and we’re still getting some advice on it. He’s not likely to feature in the next couple of weeks at least, hopefully midweek we’ll know more."

    Celtic v Hibernian (19:45)

Martin Boyle has been attracting headlines, with a club in Saudi Arabia reportedly keen on the speedy Hibs forward and talk of eye-watering wages on offer.

The 28-year-old is under contract until the summer 2024 and manager Shaun Maloney told BBC Scotland this week that he is "very keen" to keep the Australia international. He will only go if the price is right was the firm message.

Losing such a key player would be a blow and Hibs fans will be counting down the remaining days of this month...

His first coaching gig was at Celtic though, where he spent a year with the Under-20s. He came through the youth ranks at Celtic and scored 52 goals in 215 appearances over two stints at the Glasgow club.

  12. Cup glory for Kyogopublished at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2022

    Celtic v Hibernian (19:45)

The teams have met twice already this term, with Celtic enjoying a comfortable 3-1 league win at Easter Road in late October when Tom Rogic ran the home side ragged for the first 45 minutes.

Then there was December's League Cup final, during which Celtic were on top during a drab first half, only to find themselves trailing a Paul Hanlon header soon after the restart. However, Hibs shot themselves in the foot at Hampden with two dreadful defensive lapses, allowing Kyogo to steal the show and land the first silverware of the season.
