    Hull v Preston (15:00 GMT)

It’s been a Turkish Delight for the Tigers since the new owners took over. Three wins in a row for new custodian, Acun Ilicali, have been punctuated with a change of manager. Shota Arveladze started his tenure as Hull boss with a win last week against Swansea and a rejuvenated Hull fanbase seems to be right behind their team.

Keane Lewis-Potter has been the Tigers’ stand out player and the new reinforcements, including Brentford’s Marcus Forss, could add the extra bit of quality that Hull have been lacking this season - and help keep them in the division.

Ryan Lowe’s Preston have only lost one in their past six and come into this game with Lowe looking towards a play-off place. That would have been unthinkable in the wake of Frankie McAvoy’s departure but it goes to show how a manager can help rally his players and instill belief in a side.

I’m expecting action - the home side will be in buoyant mood but PNE are no pushovers - and judging by the manager’s comments, they’ll also be going for all three points in Humberside.

  18. Defoe returns as Bradley Lowery rememberedpublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    Sunderland v Doncaster (15:00 GMT)

One win in their last five is certainly not promotion form and Sunderland will be looking to bounce back with no less than three points, in front of a crowd of over 30,000 fans expected at the Stadium of Light.

It is set to be a fantastic and emotional occasion as Jermain Defoe, who is named on the bench, makes his return to the club. £1 from every ticket sold for the game will be donated to the Bradley Lowery Foundation. Defoe formed a close bond with Bradley in his previous spell at the club, who sadly died in 2017 at the age of just six due to neuroblastoma - a rare form of cancer.

Whilst Sunderland will look to Defoe and their cluster of new signings to reinvigorate their season, Doncaster Rovers, rooted rock-bottom of the table, need a miracle. Losing 5-0 at home last weekend against their local rivals, Rotherham United, would have only made matters worse for a side that is now eleven points away from safety.

  19. Squad Goals' games of the day - League Twopublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    Scunthorpe v Oldham (15:00 GMT)

    Joe Thompson
Former Rochdale and Tranmere midfielder on Squad Goals

The battle at the basement sees the bottom of the league Scunthorpe host relegation rivals Oldham. Both with 19 points and eight points from safety.

This is the biggest game of the season by far for these two.

The Irons have been on the decline for the past few seasons now and appointed Keith Hill in November. Unfortunately since then their form hasn’t picked up with six straight losses. Their last victory was away at Boundary Park where they won 3-1 on Boxing Day.

Hill's men will be praying for much of the same today.

Newly appointed John Sheridan is back in charge of the Latics and will be looking to build off last week's 0-0 draw against Rochdale. He has brought in reinforcements this week in Tope Obadeyi & Michael Fondop from Hartlepool.

Both are hoping to get them firing at the top end of the pitch.

This relegation battle is a must win for both sides. The games don’t come much bigger than this at the bottom of the entire Football League, it’s a crucial game for both as they look to claw themselves out of the relegation zone.

It really is now or never!
