England maintained their unbeaten run under manager Sarina Wiegman as they drew with an in-form Spanish side in the Arnold Clark Cup.

The Lionesses, who drew 1-1 with Canada on Thursday, hit the post through substitute Lauren Hemp in the second half and came close with Jordan Nobbs.

All-time top scorer Ellen White was also denied by a last-ditch tackle, while Spain's best chance fell to Lucia Garcia who dragged her shot wide.

England have won six and drawn two under Wiegman and this was another encouraging performance in preparation for this summer's home European Championship.

Spain, widely regarded as one of the favourites for the Euros, dominated possession as expected, but were tested by England on several occasions at Carrow Road.

From one England goalkeeper to another...

England boss Sarina Wiegman, speaking to ITV Sport, says: "High intensity, a game of a high level. It seems like 0-0 was very boring but it wasn't, it was an open game.

"They had a little bit more of the ball but that's fine. We were dangerous and the next step is scoring these goals.

"We have many players in our squad and as a team we're really strong. We played with different players and that's hard.

"We had a plan, everyone knew what we were going to do and I think we did a pretty good job in that."

England defended resolutely, they were organised, they were hard to beat. We knew Spain would have a lot of possession as they did, but we saw what we've come to expect from them.

They struggle to break teams down and score the goals to take them over the line. For England, it is a real positive; they made lots of changes and players got opportunities.

Athenea del Castillo was excellent. She was up against one of the world's best right-backs in Lucy Bronze and caused chaos, but you've got to be clinical at this level and we've seen that today. If Spain want to win the Euros this summer, they've got to find a way past that.

England's Lauren Hemp, speaking to ITV Sport, says: "Spain were unbelievable, they played us off the park at times but we created chances and just gutted with the end product.

"We have a lot of positives to take. They are a fantastic team, we did great against them and we will take the positives but there are still things to work on."

On playing for England in Norwich, she adds: "It's unbelievable. Every kid dreams of playing for England and to do that at a place I call home is just amazing - I couldn't ask for more."

Faye White is full of praise for Spanish central defender Maria Leon and England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.

Substitute Lauren Hemp curled a shot against the post in the opening minute of the second half and that was as close as either side came to winning this one.

Both teams now have two points from their two games so far in the Arnold Clark Cup.

Athenea del Castillo nearly wins it as Spain counter at pace after an England attack fell apart.

Del Castillo shoots from the edge of the penalty area and Hannah Hampton is not the biggest goalkeeper but does excellently to get her hands to the shot above her head and keep it out of the net.

Four minutes of injury time. Time for a late winner?

Del Castillo has asked a lot of questions of Lucy Bronze in this second half; she's done really well. She's attacked aggressively. I've said it time and time again with a variety of Spanish players; they just haven't had that final product.

Athenea del Castillo has been superb since coming on at half-time. She runs at Lucy Bronze and manages to get a shot in, but hits it into the side netting.

Lucy Bronze causes problems down the right wing and her cross is headed away at the near post. It falls to Fran Kirby, who opts to pass instead of shoot but Ella Toone can't get a proper connection on it and the chance is wasted.

Five minutes and injury-time remaining for either side to find a winner in the Carrow Road rain.
