Seven subs in total taking place at the same time.

That took almost three minutes to sort out.

The fourth official lobs the digital numbers board over the advertising hoardings.

His fingers are aching after that.

Southgate is incapable of playing the side without the handbrake on. He's done well but I doubt he has what it takes to close out a tournament. We should have closed out the Euros. There were obvious subs to make in that game.

Same from England in the second half. Southgate team talk hasn’t made a difference. No real tactical change this does worry me about Southgate.

Not too many England players standing out so far but Conor Gallagher is certainly one. Always wants the ball. Always looking to do something positive. He is creating a really good impression.

  8. CLOSE!published at 53 mins

    England 1-1 Switzerland

Defender Marc Guehi is always dangerous at corners.

The Palace man rises for a header, but sends it wide of the far post.

Like a Swiss watch, it was timed to perfection but the finish was off kilter.

Harry Kane has barely had a sniff today but is found by Conor Gallagher's clipped pass forward.

The Three Lions skipper is one on one with Jonas Omlin, who stands big and denies the Tottenham man.

The set pieces look like they are from a team that hasn't played together a lot. We have to take that into account. There is no cohesion.

    Powerful message.

I did think, didn't they have names on in the first half?

This has been flat. There is no energy or zip for England; we can talk about formations and newcomers into the team, but none of that really matters when you are talking about intensity.

    England 1-1 Switzerland

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

The press from England does the job, but that is poor from Switzerland at this stage of the game. They are trying to play out from the back; they've got to manage the game better, but take nothing away from Kyle Walker-Peters who does really well.

Shaw arrives, pings the ball off the inside of the post. A brilliant strike.
