Oliver Jones: I genuinely want some mad comedy where Alhadhur gets sent off! However, he's just made a double save nearly up there with the Gregory Coupet double save v Barcelona, so I'm all aboard him scoring a last minute equaliser

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

Comoros do look a danger on the counter and have a couple of chances as Benjaloud Youssouf is denied by Andre Onana, who closed down the gap quickly, before Youssouf sweeps a shot wide after a decent break.

Comoros may not go through tonight but they've restricted Cameroon to one goal in almost an hour of play and that in itself is a hugely commendable achievement.

Still, plenty of time to go for more twists and turns to come!

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 55 mins

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

    Brilliant!

Superb double save by Chaker Alhadhur as he gets down to punch away a decent Vincent Aboubakar strike and then is up quickly to deny Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui.

Great stuff from the left-back playing in goal, who gets up and smiles broadly. Looks to be loving this!

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 54 mins

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

A change for Comoros as Ahmed Mogni is replaced by Abdallah Ali Mohamed.

Ali Mohamed is just one of the seven subs on the Comoros bench.

  8. Postpublished at 53 mins

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

Another chance goes begging for Cameroon as Karl Toko Ekambi meets a cross at the far post but fails to connect properly at all as he sees it late.

  9. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

Oof, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting produces the sort of finish you associate with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting of Stoke, not the Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting of Bayern Munich as he gets into the box but then slices an effort well, well over.

His coach looks away in disgust. Terrible effort.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 51 mins

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

    Just what Chaker Alhadhur needed!

The left back who is playing in goal does really well to keep out a strong header by Vincent Aboubakar.

    Fine save!

  12. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

Rafidine Abdullah was the player who dropped into defence when Comoros were reduced to 10 men and at the moment he is proving their best defender. He's reading every bit of danger really well as he cuts out another ball into the box.

  13. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

The Gambia awaits the winner of this game, which at the moment is looking like Cameroon but Comoros are still very much in this.

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

Loving the dancing going on in the stands. Cameroon are winning, not the most convincing performance so far but the fans are very much enjoying themselves.

The players are returning to the pitch for the second half.

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

    Nick Cavell

Comoros have not let their heads drop at all today at the Olembe stadium not when they started with a defender in goal, not when they were down to 10 men, not when they went a goal down and not in the face of a vociferous home crowd.

At the back they have been patient and thought about their next pass but also with a mind to go forward when they can and not just on the counter-attack either. Comoros boasted three shots on target to one for Cameroon,

Despite the 1-0 lead the Cameroon fans are a little frustrated that their side has not even tested Chaker Alhadur in goal let alone put two or three past the temporary keeper and against 10 men.

Several Comoros players (including subs) and some coaches approached the officials at half-time to discuss that red card – goalkeeping coach Jean-Daniel Padovani was demanding answers. Not sure he got any but everyone eventually left the pitch.

This will be a bit of a moral victory for Comoros, getting to half time with just one goal conceded.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

    Cameroon 1-0 Comoros

Cameroon have the lead at the break but Comoros, despite their problems, are not out of it. They've had more shots on target than their opponents and still very much in this.

Cameroon have a corner and it is played to Collins Fai on the edge of the box. He runs into the area but doesn't stop and ends up running the ball out of play.
