Sometimes you go up with your hands like that, but by the laws of the game, it is definitely a penalty.

FT: Greenock Morton 2-2 Raith Rovers

Morton manager Dougie Imrie tells BBC Scotland: "It was a great spectacle, I’d have probably liked to have played in it!

“I’m really proud of my team again.

"For the first 40 minutes we were outstanding but then we gift Raith their two goals.

"They didn’t have to work hard to get those two goals at all, we gave away a needless penalty.

On Jamie MacDonald's late heroics he added: "Jamie MacDonald's save was unbelievable. How he knew it [Uqwu’s backheel] was going there I dont know, but he’s been doing that his whole career."

FT: Greenock Morton 2-2 Raith Rovers

Raith Rovers manager John McGlynn has told BBC Scotland: "It must have been a good game for the viewers.

"Morton are in form and very direct and you have to deal with that.

"They started well but we got a grip on the game and are delighted about the way we came back.

"On the balance of play it’s probably a fair result, but when you’re ahead you always want to win but over the piece, a draw was probably a fair result."

What a game! An enthralling end-to-end encounter. So many opportunities went begging, four goals were scored, and the conditions played their part.

Gozie Ugwu had Morton ahead before Raith Rovers staged a first-half comeback through a Jamie Gullan penalty and Reghan Tumilty right on the stroke of half-time.

Second-half substitute Robbie Muirhead equalised for Morton with 15 minutes left on the clock.

    Greenock Morton 2-2 Raith Rovers

Lewis Strapp whips a great left-footed cross towards the back post, as he has done all night.

It evades everyone in the box and Jame MacDonald looks incredibly relieved to see it drop past his post, and not inside of it.

Some late drama wouldn't be surprising in this game after the way it has unfolded.

There was a goal right on the stroke of half-time, will there be one on full-time?

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:28 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2022

    Greenock Morton 2-2 Raith Rovers

The ball is passed across goal by Gavin Reilly, it gets caught up in the turf and Gozie Ugwu backheels it from the edge of the six-yard box. Jamie MacDonald manages to get down to it, denying the striker his second.

Ugwu has a rueful smile on his face after that one, what a goal it would have been.

    Greenock Morton 2-2 Raith Rovers

    How has he missed?!?!

Morton make a quick break and Gavin Reilly swings it in towards the back post. Gozie Ugwu can't reach it but Cameron Blues does, somehow he inexplicably heads it into the ground and it bounces over the bar.

It seemed harder to miss than to score.

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:20 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2022

Morton appeal for a penalty but it is waved away by the referee.

Replays show the ball struck the hand of Kyle Benedictus and should have been a Morton penalty.

    Robbie Muirhead

On as a sub and what an impact he's had.

Lewis Strapp takes a short throw, it's touched back to him on the touchline and he then floats it into the box.

Robbie Muirhead is positioned perfectly in between the two Raith central defenders and nods it past Jamie MacDonald, who was at full-stretch.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:13 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2022

    Greenock Morton 1-2 Raith Rovers

In a similar situation to the one that caught him out before, Jack Hamilton manages to get a strong hand down to a shot across goal from Jamie Gullan this time.

Morton try to break after defending the resulting corner and Sam Stanton gets booked for a textbook cynical foul on Gozie Ugwu to stop the counter-attack.

It's certainly a lively affair with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Despite Morton trying to use the conditions to their advantage, they have just sent a free-kick flying out of the pitch.

The weather is impossible to predict here.

Raith need to stop giving away free-kicks in their own half. It's just allowing Morton to float balls in towards their big players.

  20. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2022

    Greenock Morton 1-2 Raith Rovers

Morton think they're level after another testing ball into the box gets caught up in the wind.

Alan Lithgow flicks it on and Gary Oliver stabs in it and the back post but the linesman's flag is straight up.

It was certainly a tight call but it looks like it was the correct one.
