  3. Jullien must 'keep working hard'published at 18:28 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    FT: Celtic 4-0 Raith Rovers

Celtic forward Mikey Johnston was substituted after picking up an injury, but manager Ange Postecoglou says he is "not sure what the extent of it" is but suggests it is a "knock on his ankle".

French centre-half Christopher Jullien came on as a substitute to end 13 months on the sidelines thorugh injury.

"It was good to get Christopher Jullien some game time," Postecoglou adds. "He's been working really hard. Hopefully the 20 minutes of so today will give him encouragement to go back and keep working hard."

  4. 'We didn't work hard enough'published at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    FT: Celtic 4-0 Raith Rovers

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells BBC Scotland: "We weren't great in the first half. We didn't work hard enough, we didn't play at a tempo, took too many touches of the ball. The second half was better.

"We made seven changes to the team, so you know it's not going to be as fluent or as cohesive. It's not about singling out individuals.

"We have an intent and ambition to be a certain kind of team. Training is intense, so game day we are intense no matter who starts and I think the urgency wasn't quite there."

Bodo/Glimt are next up for Celtic as the Norwegian champions visit Glasgow in the last 16 of the new Europa Conference League.

On the same night, Rangers face a major challenge as they visit Borussia Dortmund at the same stage of the Europa League.

Both Glasgow sides go into those games having rested almost their whole first-choice XI for comfortable wins against lower league opponents in the Scottish Cup.

  7. McGlynn 'proud' of Rovers playerspublished at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    FT: Celtic 4-0 Raith Rovers

Raith Rovers manager John McGlynn tells BBC Scotland: "I thought we were very well organised and disciplined in our play.

"We knew Celtic would come out the traps and bombard us early on and we wanted to get beyond that period, which I thought we did.

"But unfortunately are really good strike after about 20 minutes and we were still in the game - then we get hit on the counter attack for the second one.

"there was a claim for a penalty, but I haven't seen it back. I am proud of the players and we have to get our league campaign going again."

There was enough there for John McGlynn to make a positive situation out of this. Rovers stayed with Celtic up until the second goal and restricted them to very few opportunities. I mentioned 4-0 at the start of the game, so it is not a surprise

Celtic caused a problem for themselves as they didn't play to their normal tempo, but Jota made the big difference when he came on and he started to create things. They got the goals that they maybe deserved because of their control of the game

  11. Laboured at times, but class came throughpublished at 17:59 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    FT: Celtic 4-0 Raith Rovers

    Martin Dowden

Celtic are comfortably through to the Scottish Cup quarter-finals and it was the spark of substitute Jota that made the difference.

He oozes quality and his measured ball for Giorgis Giakoumakis to net the decisive second. How Celtic must be itching to get him signed up long term from Benfica.

The late introduction of Christopher Jullien was the icing on the cake for home fans after such a long road back from injury. As the weeks go by, that option in defence may be invaluable.

Rovers will be bitterly disappointed at the scoreline having offered an impressive display overall.

  13. FULL-TIME Celtic 4-0 Raith Roverspublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

Celtic ease into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, but the scoreline probably flatters Ange Postecoglou's side.

Rovers were well in the game despite Liam Scales' superb early strike.

However, insired by substitute Jota, Celtic cantered home thanks to further goals from Giorgos Giakoumakis, Daizen Maeda and Nir Bitton.

Rovers will wonder what might have happened had they been awarded what looked like a penalty when only one goal behind.

A controversial penalty and a bit of calamity of a goal too.

Nir Bitton takes the spot kick, but Jamie MacDonald's fine save is not rewarded as the midfielder bundles home Celtic's fourth goal on the rebound.

  16. PENALTY TO CELTICpublished at 17:45 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    Celtic 3-0 Raith Rovers

Referee Steven McLean awards the home side a penalty after Jota weaves into the Rovers penalty box and the winger's shot strikes Sean Mackie's arm on way to goal.

It seems harsh on the substitute defender and it looks like he is heading for an early bath as a yellow card is also waved.

However, Mackie, despite being already booked, stays on and Ross Matthews seems to be the one to have a yellow this time.

  17. Postpublished at 85mins

    Celtic 3-0 Raith Rovers

Rovers' next change is to bring on 18-year-old midfielder Aaron Arnott for a rare appearance.

  18. YELLOW CARD Mackie (Raith Rovers)published at 82mins

    Celtic 3-0 Raith Rovers

Substitute Sean Mackie makes his mark immediately, but maybe not how he wants as he is booked for catching Celtic striker Daizen Maeda with a late tackle.

  19. Mackie makes Rovers returnpublished at 79mins

    Celtic 3-0 Raith Rovers

More concern for Rovers as captain Kyle Benedictus goes off holding the back of his thigh.

He is replaced with Sean Mackie, the left-back who has returned to Stark's Park, where he started his career, on loan from Hibs.
