John McGlynn will be delighted at this stage. His Rovers side are behind to a sensational Liam Scales shot off the post. But, in the main, they are holding their own in a disciplined, well-organised display.

They will look back on that penalty claim against Cameron Carter-Vickers and believe they should have had the opportunity to level this.

It is a disjointed display from Celtic thus far. Nowhere near the intensity of recent performances despite being ahead.

A few more passes are going astray from the home side and suddenly Celtic centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers has to block a Ross Matthews shot on the edge of the home penalty box.

Celtic race up the other end and Giorgos Giakoumakis is played in behind the Rovers defence in acres of space.

The offside flag goes up, but replays suggest the Greek striker had timed his run well.

Rovers have certainly subdued Celtic's usual fire at this stage and the normally boisterous home support has been quietened to a low hum and occasionally frustrated murmur.

I think John McGlynn will be reasonably happy at this moment in time. Yes, Celtic have scored, but Rovers' organisation has been excellent. If they can do a bit more on the ball, at 1-0 they always have a chance

That's a penalty. That was going in, or at least it was close to going in. It's bounced up and hit his arm

  8. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 25mins

    Celtic 1-0 Raith Rovers

A big shout for a penalty from the visitors as Cameron Carter-Vickers stoops to control with his chest and it looks to strike his upper arm after a downward header by Rovers defender Reghan Tumilty.

Lucky escape for the American centre-half.

    Wow!

What a strike from Liam Scales.

Celtic's summer signing from Shamrock Rovers sends a left-foot wurlitzer in off the inside of a post from 25 yards, leaving goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald with no chance.

Celtic's defence and goalkeeper Joe Hart get into a bit of a fankle across their own penalty box, but Rovers' chance of a break ends with a poor pass from Sam Stanton.

We talked about that first 15-20 minutes - not to lose a goal and Raith have done that. They've looked organised

    Celtic 0-0 Raith Rovers

Rovers midfielder Sam Stanton is caught in possession midway through his own half and it looks like Celtic must score.

Reo Hatate is one of four players against two defenders, but the midfielder's low drive from 16 yards is straight at goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald.

The encouragement for the Celtic forwards is that there's been space in behind, so I think they're quite keen to take advantage of that

Nir Bitton takes a pot-shot at goal. It isn't too far over the crossbar, but Celtic's Israel midfielder is maybe a bit overambitious with this one from all of 30 yards.

    Celtic 0-0 Raith Rovers

Most of the play is in the visiting half of Celtic Park.

Rovers captain Kyle Benedictus slides in with a fine front-post interception to prevent a low Liam Scales cross finding a team-mate in front of goal.

    Celtic 0-0 Raith Rovers

Celtic hearts are in mouths as Stephen Welsh is short with a pass back to Joe Hart.

The goalkeeper has to hastily clear, it takes a nick off inrushing striker Jamie Gullan and, fortunately for the home side, flies high into the stand rather than the back of the net.

That was really impressive from Mikey Johnston. That's what I remember him doing before his injury - really sharp, cutting inside and driving at people. It was just inches over the bar

The visiting goal is quickly under fire.

Mikey Johnston weaves into the Rovers penalty box and the forward lashes a shot inches over the crossbar.
