Southampton’s tactics, the strength of their squad, the development of their players, the way they finished off the game against an outstanding team, they deserve everything they got tonight. They look formidable going forward in this competition right now.

Tell you what, Gibson has used his arm to block that. VAR has checked it and sees nothing wrong. Given the City defender a big benefit of the doubt there.

Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, speaking to BBC One: "I like how we played, we didn't get frustrated and were patient and at the same time relentless to find the gaps and the decisive chances. We deserved to win, it was a good team perofrmance, a very humble performance, I like it.

"Every match we play is the most important and that is why they are on the pitch and it is good that they score."

You have to give huge credit to Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea. He insisted on more urgency and playing in Luton's half, they we the better team and the quality showed.

They deserve to go through but a valiant fight from Luton.

Southampton are dug in deep now. West Ham desperately seeking an opening. They just want that one ball to drop their way near the Saints box.
