  1. Eyes turn to West Lothianpublished at 17:54 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

    That'll do us for today.

Remember you can catch Sportscene on BBC Scotland at 19:30 GMT.

We'll be back tomorrow for Celtic's trip to Livingston (12:00). The leaders have the chance to restore their three-point lead, but the Tony Macaroni Arena isn't a happy-hunting ground for them.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

  2. Mackay full of praise for goalscorer Hungbopublished at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

FT: Ross County 1-0 St Mirren

Ross County manager Malky Mackay tells BBC Sportsound: “Terrific win today. To have three games in a week and get three wins gives us real good momentum.

“It was always going to be a tough game today, they changed shape at half-time to try and get a foothold back into it and I was delighted we kept the pressure on at that point. I’m really pleased about the spine of the team today.

“I thought our centre-backs and our midfielders and our centre-forward really kept that strength together when it’s needed."

On today's match-winner, he added: “Great credit to young Joe [Hungbo] because the confidence now from the boy who walked in at the start of the season to the man that’s beginning to grow - I’m delighted. He’s a terrific young lad.

“No goalkeeper’s saving that penalty today. My challenge to him actually was to try and score another five goals between Christmas and the end of the season and he’s getting there."

  3. 'United showed they're up for the fight' - Foxpublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

FT: Dundee United 2-2 Heart of Midlothian

Dundee United assistant manager Liam Fox tells BBC Sportsound: "It was eventful, a lot happening, two teams going at it.

"We're obviously disappointed being 2-1 up to lose the second goal and only come away with a point, but I think today was about getting a reaction to the result from the other night [defeat to Livingston].

"I think that performance shows that the players are still fighting and it's going to go right to the wire for the top six spot.

"There's a sense of frustration but we also know that we were up against a really good side there."

  5. 'Disappointing day' for Motherwell - Alexanderpublished at 17:43 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

    FT: Motherwell 1-1 Dundee

Motherwell manager Graham Alexander tells BBC Sportsound: "We're finding new ways to give really easy cheap goals away.

"We showed a good response and came back into it and scored a good equaliser.

"We had good little spells of pressure and little spells of tempo where we got at them, but not enough to overcome a team that we should do at home in these circumstances when we've got so much to play for.

    "It's a disappointing day."

  6. 'I have to put my stamp on it now' - Robinsonpublished at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

FT: Ross County 1-0 St Mirren

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson tells BBC Sportsound: “It’s very disappointing, I don't think the overall performance was good enough.

“We didn’t play in the first half at all, we didn’t start at all and then we concede a penalty in the first couple minutes of the second, so it’s an uphill task.

“When we start passing the ball and putting any kind of pressure on their goal it was after we were 1-0 down, which isn’t good enough.

"I’ve come in and tried to just go along with what was there but now I have to go and try to put my stamp on it.

St Mirren boss Robinson was not happy with his team's opening 45 minutes

“I’ve tried to keep people happy and keep going along with a team that had a chance to get in the top six, but we’ve got three games now we must get points from, simple as that.

“It’s certainly not been the start I wanted and it wasn’t good enough today.

“Did we deserve a point? Yeah, there’s not a lot in the game but we didn’t test them enough until their goal went in."

Wins for both leaders Arbroath and Kilmarnock means there's still just one point splitting the pair at the top.

There was a change at the bottom, however, with a big three points at the bottom for Queen of the South seeing them leapfrog Dunfermline.

  9. 'My players were phenomenal' - Neilsonpublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

FT: Dundee United 2-2 Heart of Midlothian

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson tells BBC Sportsound: "I'm absolutely delighted with the players, I thought they were phenomenal.

"We started the game really well and then we got an injury, and then another injury, and then another injury, and then another one. We ended up with five players I had to change. To deal with those injuries and still get a point out of the game, I'm very pleased.

"We were asking guys to go and play in positions they've never played in before. They worked for the team, stuck in, and got us out of here with a point.

"It was a tough, tough day for us because of the injuries. Sometimes you have to adapt and we've managed to do it today."

Dundee manager Mark McGhee tells BBC Sportsound: "The young goalie [Harrison Sharp] went in and I thought he did brilliantly.

"Declan McDaid up front - he's not really played that position, never mind played, but I thought he had a terrific game.

"Having lost five from the team that played against Hibs in midweek, I think we've got to be satisfied."

It was touch and go for a long time. It was an uneventful first half. Roofe's goal looked offside at first, but Funso Ojo maybe plays him on

  16. FULL-TIME Hibernian 0-0 St Johnstonepublished at 16:59 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

Try as they might to score, it felt like this result was inevitable for both sides.

Hibs probably tried a little harder and came a little closer, Elias Melkerson and Josh Doig both saw efforts deflected just inches over the bar.

Sylvester Jasper tried every flick and trick in the book but no-one in green was able to link up with him effectively.

Despite that, they move up to fourth in one of the tightest Premiership tables in living memory. St Johnstone sit one point off bottom spot.

  17. FULL-TIME Dundee United 2-2 Heart of Midlothianpublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

Craig Halkett salvages a point for Hearts despite them losing five players to injury in a bruising Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee United.

Liam Boyce flashed in an opener inside the first minute for Hearts, but Liam Smith's stunning strike levelled.

Nicky Clark's penalty just after the hour turned the game, but Halkett ensured United's winless league run stretches to four games.

And that means Tam Courts' side fall to seventh in the table.

  18. FULL-TIME Rangers 1-0 Aberdeenpublished at 16:55 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

Rangers move level on points with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership thanks to Kemar Roofe's bundled late winner at a packed Ibrox.

Rangers celebrated 150 years since their foundation, but the players fell short of the pre-match pyrotechnics.

It looked like a determined and organised Aberdeen would secure a third consecutive draw with the Glasgow side.

But substitute Roofe was on hand to tap home from close range from a James Tavernier header into the six-yard box.

  20. FULL-TIME Ross County 1-0 St Mirrenpublished at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

Another win for Ross County as they move into the top six.

Joseph Hungbo's penalty at the start of the second-half kissed the bar on its way in and was enough for the home side to win their third game in a row.

Stephen Robinson has now lost his three matches in charge of St Mirren as they remain ninth in the league.

Eamonn Brophy went close for the away side but they failed to show a clinical enough edge to find a way back into the game.
