Philip Zinckernagel gets the better of Naby Sarr, who blocks him off with a tackle more akin to Huddersfield Giants than Huddersfield Town.

Forest get a free-kick out on the left about 10 yards out on the left, James Garner whips it in beautifully but Ryan Yates' glancing effort goes wide.

It's been frantic and frenetic. Both teams have given the ball up cheaper than they would have liked so far.

The first 10 minutes has passed now, both sides will want to settle down and play.

Players finally get a moment to draw breath as Lee Nicholls lines up a goal-kick for Huddersfield.

It's been relentless in terms of pace.

Town put Forest under pressure with lots of snappy passes around the box, but a blanket defensive line swamps the space, and the Terriers eventually cede possession.

Naby Sarr inexplicably passes the ball out of play but Forest concede possession on the back of the throw.

Joe Worrall has to be alert to break up the Huddersfield counter.

Forest then strike down the right with a long ball forward to Brennan Johnson, who forces Levi Colwill to hoist the ball into the stands for a throw.

Forest break down the left with Philip Zinckernagel, who then hesitates and looks to bring team-mates into play.

Huddersfield recover, as James Garner swings a cross in from the left but the offside flag goes up.

Rip-roaring atmosphere is keeping this game chugging along at a lick.

Djed Spence fizzes in a cross from the right after a gallivanting run, but Huddersfield clear.

Forest's outlet, as my colleague Ian was saying, could prove key down that side.

Huddersfield break though, and it's another crude challenge from Joe Worrall in midfield.

He's using up his free hits early on here.

The set-piece causes little danger again, with Brice Samba in control at the back.

There's going to be pivotal clashes all over the park but I'm really looking forward to seeing how the battle between Huddersfield left wing-back Harry Toffolo and Forest right-back Djed Spence goes.

Both are vital attacking outlets for their respective teams and whichever of those pair can spend more time attacking could have a massive say on who wins this game.

It's a seething, throbbing mass of humanity at Wembley. Nearly every seat taken.

Sorba Thomas drives forward for Huddersfield, the ball wriggles out of his reach and the Wales winger is stopped in uncompromising fashion by Joe Worrall.

Huddersfield curl the resulting free-kick out, to no danger.

Ninety minutes will decide a new Premier League team for 2022-23.

Jonathan Moss toots on his whistle. We're off. Forest get the 2022 Championship play-off final under way.

Veteran boss Neil Warnock knows a thing or eight about winning promotions.

He led Huddersfield to promotion with a play-off final win back in 1995 and previously managed Forest's city rivals Notts County to promotion.

He's given his backing to the Terriers today.

Talk about history, BBC East Midlands today sat down with some bona fide Forest legends in the build-up to today's final, to get their thoughts on a big day for those in red and white.

John McGovern, who paraded the European Cup in Munich and Madrid, John Robertson, who helped win in '79 with a cross for Trevor Francis and scored himself in '80 and Garry Birtles, who ran himself into the ground in those finals - to name but three.

Referee Jonathan Moss has been handed a memorable fixture for his final refereeing assignment, with the 51-year-old stepping down after today's game.

The Sunderland-born official has largely taken charge of Premier League fixtures since he was added to the list in 2011.

He has dished out 62 yellows and four reds this season. Will he keep his cards in his pocket for his big finale?

    Forest dejectedImage source, Rex Features

That Nottingham Forest are here at all is a minor miracle, given their previously shambolic record in this knock-out phase of the season.

It's not to say they don't know their way around a promotion campaign, far from it having clambered into the Premier League and Championship at various stages on an automatic basis.

However, it's the play-offs that have long been Forest's sticking point.

Let's run through the list of calamities.

2003 - Old Division One: 3-1 up on aggregate at Bramall Lane, 2-0 up on the night thanks to Andy Reid and David Johnson, before Paul Peschisolido and Steve Kabba combined to help Sheffield United turn it round to win 5-4 overall.

2007 - League One: Yeovil are beaten 2-0 away at Huish Park. Things appear rosy at a packed City Ground in the second leg, but the Glovers stun a shell-shocked Forest to win 5-2 (after extra-time) and dump the Reds out.

2010 - Championship: Lose 2-1 at Blackpool but an early second-leg Rob Earnshaw goal gives Forest hope. It's level until early in the second-half when DJ Campbell polishes off a 23-minute hat-trick and Stephen Dobbie nets to make it 6-4 on aggregate at full-time, with Earnshaw's brace and Dele Adebola's injury-time consolation making little impact.

2011 - Championship: Swansea draw 0-0 at the City Ground, and Stephen Dobbie is back - this time with the Swans - in the second-leg with a goal as Swansea comfortably go 2-0 up, and Rob Earnshaw's effort is rendered utterly redundant by Darren Pratley's late finish. Crushing.

Since then, radio silence on the promotion front. Until now. Just getting here is a victory of sorts for the Reds.
