Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst tells BT Sport: "I'm very pleased. It was are really tough game, even with the 3-0 scoreline. It was an amazing save by Allan McGregor with the penalty.

"Red Star played a little on the edge with the offside goals and we could see their quality, so I think we performed really well.

"John [Lundstram] had an important role. We prepared him for a different system. I think he was the key especially in the second half.

"When I first came here I asked him to play in defence because we had no defenders and he told me 'I've never played there', but I told him with his quality he could. He is growing in his role now in the centre of midfield."

Rangers defender Leon Balogun headed in goal number three this evening and he's also been on media duties.

"You could say we have one foot in the quarter-finals but we still have to go to a difficult place," he says. "It's a good team in a tough place, so it's going to be a challenging game next week. "

Rangers visit Dundee in the Scottish Cup on Sunday. Is that a chance to rest some players with next week's trip to Belgrade in mind or is it full steam ahead in all competitions for the Ibrox side?

Rangers midfielder John Lundstram tells BT Sport: "There's something special about being here on a Thursday night under the lights.

"The clean sheet is important. You can still see the dangers that they have. We've got no illusions that next week is going to be anything other than a tough game."
