Rangers v Red Star Belgrade (20:00)

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst tells BT Sport: "[The Dortmund win] gave us confidence, but we've forgotten about that tie, we need to start all over again.

"We're very dynamic in our formation. It's always good to look at the opposition and if we need an alteration we will do that.

"[Red Star] were first in their group. Defensively they are very strong and they have technically gifted players. It's an opponent that can be dangerous."

  16. Will Morelos provide more magic?published at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2022

Rangers v Red Star Belgrade (20:00)

Neither side has anyone missing through suspension this evening, but Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will need to be careful since he is a booking away from missing the return leg.

The same applies to midfielder John Lundstram and substitute Fashion Sakala.

Morelos led the line fantastically well in both legs against Dortmund and the Colombian really comes alive in this competition. He's knocked in 31 Europa League goals in total, with only Henrik Larsson (40) and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (34) scoring more.

Rangers v Red Star Belgrade (20:00)

In a game of 'show us your medals', rival managers Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Dejan Stankovic are right up there.

Both captained their nations and both amassed over 100 caps.

Stankovic has six Serie A titles to his name, the same number in the Coppa Italia, and lifted the Champions League trophy with Inter Milan after picking up the Cup Winners' Cup and Uefa Super Cup with Lazio.

As a young man at Red Star he won a league title and was part of three cup celebrations.

Van Bronckhorst also has a Champions League winners' medal in the collection with Barcelona, along with league titles in Spain, England (with Arsenal) and five domestic honours from his time as a player at Ibrox from 1998-2001.

Rangers are the the 47-year-old Dutchman's third club as manager, while Stankovic, 43, remains in his first post, having taken over in 2019.

  18. Van Bronckhorst wants it loudpublished at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2022

Rangers v Red Star Belgrade (20:00)

Rangers' recent league form has been a bit underwhelming, with draws against Dundee United and Motherwell followed by 1-0 wins over St Johnstone and Aberdeen, but it's been enough to hang on to the coattails of Premiership leaders Celtic.

It was a completely different story over two legs against Borussia Dortmund though, with Rangers full of attacking vigour against the Germans.

The atmosphere in the 2-2 draw at home a fortnight ago was absolutely crackling, with manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst saying yesterday that it is "time to turn up the volume" again.

There has been one other tie between these two, which went to a third leg in neutral London way back in the 1964/65 European Cup first round.

Rangers would finish third behind Barcelona and Lyon in Group E before embarking on a memorable Uefa Cup run, beating Panathinaikos, Werder Bremen, Sporting Lisbon and Fiorentina before coming unstuck against Zenit St Petersburg in the final.
