    Dundee United 0-1 Celtic

Callum McGregor was allowed to run 40 yards without having to beat anyone there. Then he gets to have a shot at goal that goes inches wide. You cannot allow that.

  4. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Dundee United 0-1 Celtic

The game has livened up now.

Callum McGregor flashes a shot wide for Celtic.

Then at the other end goalkeeper Joe Hart is caught napping and Dundee United cause some nervy moments just outside the Celtic box, but they can't get the ball in a good position to shoot.

  5. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 33 mins

    Dundee United 0-1 Celtic

Celtic have the ball in the net, but the celebrations are cut short.

Josip Juranovic lays the ball on a plate for Giorgos Giakoumakis, but the Greek - as he knocks it across to Daizen Maeda - handles it accidently and the goal is chopped off.

  6. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Dundee United 0-1 Celtic

Celtic haven't built on their opening goal and Dundee United are getting some encouragement.

Ryan Edwards has a strike at goal although he doesn't manage to test goalkeeper Joe Hart.

His foot's up, he's late and his studs were showing, you can't afford to dive in like that.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 30 mins

    Dundee United 0-1 Celtic

Reo Hatate is a lucky boy not to be sent off. He goes in with his studs up on Kieran Freeman.

Referee John Beaton, though, gives him just a yellow card.

  9. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Dundee United 0-1 Celtic

Kevin McDonald eventually is ready to come on to replace Ian Harkes. But that was a good three minutes United played with only 10 men there.

Fortunately for them, Celtic did not make their numerical advantage count.

  10. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Dundee United 0-1 Celtic

Dundee United's Ian Harkes is sitting on the floor shaking his head as he receives treatment. His body language suggests his Scottish Cup quarter final might be coming to an end much sooner than manager Tam Courts would like.

He's back up but making his way up the tunnel. For now, United are playing a man down with Kevin McDonald not yet ready to come on.

It looks like Daizen Maeda has got the speed on Kieran Freeman, we could see that in a few situations there. If that is the case, I'd be trying to get the ball out to him to get a one-on-one situation.

Reo Hatate pounces on a loose ball outside the box, but it lacks any real power and it's an easy save for Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist.

  13. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Dundee United 0-1 Celtic

Celtic, as you would expect, are knocking the ball about with a bit of a spring in their step now.

Dundee United aren't exactly under the cosh in terms of chances, but they're struggling to get on the ball for any length of time.

It'll be interesting to see how the games goes now. Do Dundee United continue what they're doing? Can Celtic kick on now with the confidence that goal will give then?

The keeper goes down to save it and there's a huge deflection. It is a training ground routine though, Callum McGregor moves on the edge of the box to open his body up for the shot. It's a good strike but I'm not sure it would have beaten Benjamin Siegrist without the deflection.

GOAL Dundee United 0-1 Celticpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Callum McGregor

Celtic take the lead with their first shot on target.

The corner is taken short, Callum McGregor collects the ball on the edge of the box, and he hammers it low.

It appears to take a big deflection but the Celtic captain will definitely be claiming it.

Greg Taylor sends a cross into the box towards the back post, but no-one in green and white and get to it.

Celtic have settled and are starting to get their foot on the ball, and they come forward again and win their first corner.

The referee saw there was a bit of shirt-tugging from McNulty there too. It wasn't a penalty.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 5 mins

    Dundee United 0-0 Celtic

Dundee United have a appeal for a penalty as Marc McNulty wrestles with Carl Starfelt then hits the deck in the box.

Referee John Beaton has a look but is unimpressed, believing the Dundee United man could have stayed on his feet.

  20. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Dundee United 0-0 Celtic

Nicky Clark chips the free-kick into the Celtic box, but it's well defended.

Celtic break on the counter attack at pace and Daizen Maeda, rather outrageously, goes for goal from far out on the left, and he's not too far away from goal with the ball just drifting over.
