  4. Can Tam Courts shock Ange Postecoglou's side?published at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Dundee United v Celtic (19:45)

Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Hibernian have never made up the four spots in the Scottish Cup semi-finals - and Dundee United are hoping that remains the case.

United stand between Celtic and the final place in tonight's draw, which will take place immediately after their quarter-final at Tannadice.

It's a chance to get back to Hampden for the Tannadice club and exorcise the demons of last season's last-four loss to Hibernian.

But can they defeat the club that has won the tournament the most?

  5. Postecoglou: 'We know the expectations'published at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Dundee United v Celtic (19:45)

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells BBC Scotland: "Jota has a knock from the last game. He will be available for the weekend, Liel Abada has a bit of illness and will be back at the weekend too.

"We’ve put an 11 out that can get it done but if not we’ve got good depth from the bench too if not.

"Our away form has been really good and it is key to our good run. The previous form goes out the window a little bit in a cup quarter-final, I think it’ll be an exciting game, I think you'll maybe see more opportunities than a league game."

On talk of a potential treble for Celtic this season, he added: "When you sign up for this football club you know the expectations and tonight is another opportunity to get closer to another trophy and that’s what we have to see it as - an opportunity."

  6. Courts: 'This is a huge opportunity for us'published at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Dundee United v Celtic (19:45)

Dundee United manager Tam Courts tells BBC Scotland: "Tony Watt pushed and pushed and should be available for the St Mirren game and the last thing we wanted to do was compromise him and rule him out further.

"We need to try and push Celtic right to the limit tonight and there’s a huge opportunity to get to Hampden and to do it in front of our home fans too.

"We’ve really held our own if you look at the stats against Celtic, the only game we didn’t do ourselves justice was December, but they were terrific that day."

  7. Celtic the name United fear the most in the cup?published at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Dundee United v Celtic (19:45)

Has anyone handed Dundee United more Scottish Cup heartache than Celtic?

United reached their first final in 1974, losing 3-0 to Celtic.

They also lost finals in 1985, 1988 and 2005 to the Parkhead men.

Leigh Griffiths goal with 20 minutes to go denied Dundee United a quarter-final win in 2015, with Celtic winning the replay 4-0.

They met in an epic Hampden semi-final in 2013, with United losing out 4-3. That was a year after another thumping 4-0 win for Celtic in the cup.

All in all, Dundee Utd have won two from 18 Scottish Cup meetings, the last of which came when BBC pundit Pat Bonner was a long-haired youth back in 1981.

That was a semi-final replay and defender Paul Hegarty grabbed a double in a 3-2 success.

Scotland to play Poland in friendlypublished at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

In some of today's other news, Scotland have arranged a friendly with Poland in place of their postponed World Cup play-off semi-final with Ukraine.

The game will be played at Hampden on 24 March, the date of the original tie.

£10 from each ticket sold going to Unicef's response in Ukraine.

"As a father, the images of children in Ukraine has been heart-breaking to watch," said Scotland captain Andy Robertson, who is also a Unicef ambassador.

"We send our love and prayers to our fellow participants across Ukraine's football community and hope that the money raised by this match will help the tremendous efforts already made by Unicef in Ukraine and in helping the refugee situation."

The line-ups are almost irrelevant, it all depends on what Dundee United side decide to show up tonight. Celtic are undoubtedly favourites, too. United will need some luck tonight and they can't let Celtic get into any sort of rhythm.

  10. United still looking to hit net at home against Celticpublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Dundee United v Celtic (19:45)

Dundee United haven’t scored a goal at home to Celtic in three league meetings since their return to the top flight.

But they have made life difficult for the Premiership leaders this season, picking up a deserved point at Celtic Park in September and holding out until Liel Abada found a 90th-minute winner at the same venue in late January.

  12. Giakoumakis starts for Celtic, no Jota or Abadapublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Dundee United v Celtic (19:45)

Georgios Giakoumakis leads the line for Celtic after returning from injury as a sub in the 3-1 league win at Livingston.

However, wingers Jota and Liel Abada are missing from the visitors squad.

James Forrest continues in attack and Daizen Maeda will move out wide to accommodate Giakoumakis.

Matt O'Riley and Reo Hatate come into midfield in place of Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton and Josip Juranovic is preferred to Anthony Ralston at right-back.

Mikey Johnston is among the replacements, having been out of action for a month.

  13. Levitt back for United, no Wattpublished at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Dundee United v Celtic (19:45)

Ryan Edwards takes his place at the heart of the home defence despite breaking his nose last time out in a 2-2 draw with Hearts.

Charlie Mulgrew is fit again but the experienced centre-back can only find a place on the bench against his old club, while striker Tony Watt, another ex-Celt, has not recovered from a leg issue.

Dylan Levitt is back from injury and goes straight into United's midfield.

  15. Welcomepublished at 18:53 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Dundee United v Celtic (19:45)

Welcome to tonight's coverage of Dundee United against Celtic, the last of the four quarter-final ties.

Optimism is high on Tayside. Dundee United have cut Celtic's ticket allocation from the usual 5,500 that would be expected. The home fans instead will take ownership of their coveted 'Shed end' in front of a bumper, and perhaps expectant, home support as they bid to add their name to the trophy for the third time in their history.

There was a time when it felt like Celtic would never be beaten in the Scottish Cup, as the three domestic trophies resided at Celtic Park four seasons in a row. That dominance came to an abrupt halt when they ended last season empty-handed.

But here they are back chasing a treble. League leaders by three points, the League Cup won with victory over Hibernian in the final in December, and three wins away from capturing a 41st Scottish Cup.
