FT: Dunfermline Athletic 1-1 Greenock Morton

Speaking to BBC Scotland, Greenock Morton manager Dougie Imrie said: "I thought we defended really well and it is poor from us in the end to give away the corner and not deal with it properly, it is hard to take.

"The guys gave me everything, I have to praise them for that

"They can have all the pressure they want, you have to put the ball in the net, it was a mistake that cost us.

"We're disappointed to lose the goal the way we did but we move onto Ayr next week now.

"We just have to keep going, we go into every game wanting to win and our home form's been good so no one will want to come to Cappielow."

  3. 'We totally dominated' - Hughespublished at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

FT: Dunfermline Athletic 1-1 Greenock Morton

Dunfermline manager John Hughes tells BBC Scotland: "We were on the front foot, we took the game to them and got caught with a sucker goal in the first half which happens.

"We just had to regroup and go again for the second half.

"We totally dominated the game, it was so one-sided it was unbelievable. We had to be patient and stick by our game plan but we should have won it.

"No one can tell me we’re no a right good football side, we’ve played everyone and they all know they’ve been in a game."

When asked what the secret is to keeping his side up this season, he added: "Stop it at one end and put it in at the other — simple as that"

I think Dunfermline looked good tonight. Morton contributed to the game though with excellent defending.

I think Dunfermline will feel really hard done by to not be coming away with three points over the course of the game.

  8. FULL-TIME Dunfermline Athletic 1-1 Greenock Mortonpublished at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

Iain Wilson's first-half strike came against the run of play as Dunfermline has huffed and puffed all half to find a goal before Wilson was able to charge through the centre of the park to open the scoring.

The second 45 followed a similar pattern with the home side showing superb attacking intent all half but failing to create many clear-cut oppurtunities.

They eventually found a late equaliser as Lewis McCann's glancing front post header levelled the score.

  9. CLOSE!published at 21:37 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 1-1 Greenock Morton

    Very nearly some late drama!

Josh Edwards plays in a sensational ball that Kevin O'Hara fails to direct goalward.

The follow-up attempt is scrappy in a crowded box and Jack Hamilton manages to get the ball in his hands and takes it to the ground with him.

Is there a late winner in store?

It looks like Dunfermline will be launching balls into the box for the next few minutes as the home fans spur them on.

More last-ditch Morton defending denies the home side,

Liam Polworth looks to combine with Kevin O'Hara again as he cuts it back but a sliding tackle from Michael Ledger denies the striker a clean shot at goal.

Kevin O'Hara thought he'd got that Pars goal.

There are aspects of this game I think Morton are quite comfortable with; having their backs against the wall, having to be resolute. Some teams couldn't handle that but credit to them they are revelling in it.

Coll Donaldson goes for a glancing header in the box but it flies wide.

In the aftermath, there appears to be a clash of heads and ultimately a bit of a rammy too.

Pretty hard to tell what happened, or why it even started. Referee Kevin Clancy calms it down and play resumes quickly.

  18. Morton double changepublished at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-1 Greenock Morton

Dougie Imrie blinks first as there is a double change for Morton.

Off go Cameron Blues and Gozie Ugwu, on come Kyle Jacobs and Robbie Muirhead.

    Another Dunfermline attempt from distance.

Liam Polworth cuts across it too much though as it drags well wide of the mark.

A lot of the Pars' shots have been from distance, testament to Morton's effective defensive structure.

Morton are completely unable to get out of their own half.

Dunfermline continue to pile on the pressure to find that elusive goal.

You could have said exactly that just before Morton's opener to be fair...
