  1. CLOSE!published at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-1 Greenock Morton

Steven Lawless goes close this time with a side-footed shot from the edge of the area, after receiving the ball from a well-worked and inventive set play.

Jack Hamilton is certainly being worked now in the Morton goal.

  2. CLOSE!published at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-1 Greenock Morton

A low, driving strike from Joe Chalmers trickles past the post from 20-yards out.

Similar situation to Morton's opener but Jack Hamilton looked like he had it covered.

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-1 Greenock Morton

Dunfermline are back to enjoying some possession again as the second half swings into life.

A lot of their play is in front of the Morton defence though, not many penetrating runs are being made.

  4. Second half is under waypublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-1 Greenock Morton

    How is this one finishing?

Thumbs up for a Pars comeback win

Thumbs down for Morton holding on for the three points

Credit to Morton. They stayed in there and get their goal. To take some heat off of the keeper, I think he maybe loses his footing as he goes for it.

  6. 'Pars' issue is clear'published at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Quote Message

A lot of what Dunfermline do looks really good with how they pin teams in. But, their main issue is a lack of bodies in the box to meet some good deliveries. Some set-pieces have been begging to be met in the box and there's no one there.

  7. HALF-TIME Dunfermline Athletic 0-1 Greenock Mortonpublished at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

Dunfermline might be a bit perplexed as to how they're not ahead, or at least level, at the interval.

John Hughes is clearly angry with his players as they head down the tunnel.

A huge second half coming up in the Scottish Championship's relegation battle.

Morton haven't really had any passages of play, they haven't been building anything. You cannot count them out, they find ways to get goals. That is the difference between them and Dunfermline at the moment.

GOAL Dunfermline Athletic 0-1 Greenock Mortonpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Iain Wilson

Out of the blue, against his former side too.

Wilson gathers the ball in the centre of the park and is afforded the freedom of East End Park to drive forward. He strikes across the ball sending it to the bottom left corner and goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk cannot scramble across quickly enough to keep it out.

When Dom Thomas collects it on the edge of the box, you're thinking he should just shoot. Perhaps he is just lacking that bit of match sharpness.

  11. CLOSE!published at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Greenock Morton

Dunfermline finally get a shot on target.

Neat play across the box allows Dom Thomas time and space to lay off the onrushing Josh Edwards. His shot is too tame and easily held by Jack Hamilton.

  12. Postpublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Greenock Morton

Liam Polworth takes aim at goal some 25-yards out.

Speculative to say the least as it sails high over the bar.

  13. Postpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Greenock Morton

The first Dunfermline corner of the evening is disappointing as it fails to beat the first man.

A good opening half-hour from the home side though, who started the evening a point adrift at the bottom of the table.

They'll be eyeing this scoreline to take in with them at the break now - at least!

  14. Postpublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Greenock Morton

Dunfermline swiftly shift through the gears and launch an attack down the right-hand side.

Ultimately it's a Morton goal kick but Steven Lawless did well with some quick feet to keep it alive initially.

  15. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Greenock Morton

It's getting scrappier now. A few fouls in quick succession and the referee pulls a few players in to chat to them.

Beginning to feel like a game where the first goal could be crucial.

    Quote Message

It's important Dunfermline keep this intensity in their game. Morton will punish you if you give them half a chance.

  17. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Greenock Morton

It's calmed down a touch now with a bit more of a midfield battle taking place.

A cagey affair indeed so far.

  18. Postpublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Greenock Morton

Dunfermline are enjoying a bit more possession now as they float in a cross that finds Dom Thomas running in behind.

He goes for a Van Basten-esque volley but fails to hit the target as it rockets over the bar.

Better from the home side, though.

  19. Postpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Greenock Morton

It has been all Morton so far, with that early Gozie Ugwu strike their only opportunity so far.

Dunfermline have a flurry of attacking intent down their left-hand side but a Dom Thomas handball brings that move to a half.

  20. CLOSE!published at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2022

    Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Greenock Morton

    Nearly an early opening goal!

A Morton corner ping-pongs around in the box and ultimately falls to Gozie Ugwu who thunders a shot off a defender just yards from goal.

Dunfermline living dangerously in the opening stages.
