  1. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 21:00 British Summer Time 29 March 2022

    Republic 0-0 Lithuania

Conor Hourihane thinks he's got his second ever international goal but his effort from the edge of the box is chalked off for offside.

Dziugas Bartkus' view was being obscured by Callum Robinson, according to the officials.

The hosts win another corner which Callum Robinson plays quickly to Conor Hourihane. Dziugas Bartkus is beaten to the ball but is fouled by Chiedozie Ogbene.

    That looked soft.

  3. goal

GOAL - Northern Ireland 0-1 Hungarypublished at 20:58 British Summer Time 29 March 2022

    Roland Sallai (56 mins)

Oh no, look away now Niall McGinn.

It's a really sloppy first-time pass back towards Bailey Peacock-Farrell, but he doesn't spot Sallai, who races in, rounds the keeper and slots into the empty net.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:58 British Summer Time 29 March 2022

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Hungary

Rolland Sallai is booked for leaving one on Ciaron Brown.

  5. Postpublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 29 March 2022

Bailey Peacock-Farrell deals with the delivery and it falls to the feet of Andras Schafer, who sends it high into the Belfast night.

  6. Postpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 29 March 2022

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Hungary

Ciaron Brown does really well to cut out a Loic Nego cross after Paddy McNair's pass caught out Paddy Lane at halfway.

Great defending, and Niall McGinn gives away a free-kick from the resulting corner.

This is in a good position.

  7. Postpublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 29 March 2022

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Lithuania

Alan Browne and Chiedozie Ogbene link up well down the right-hand side but the latter's delivery is cut out by Egidijus Vaitkunas. Browne almost gets on the end of Matt Doherty's cross moments later but is beaten to the ball by his marker.

Better from the hosts at the start of the second half.

  8. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:49 British Summer Time 29 March 2022

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Hungary

Dion Charles is immediately involved as he races onto a defensive error.

There's into the area and he goes down after a touch by Adam Lang, but, despite the protests, no penalty is given.

    You've seen them awarded.

Mark Sterling must have been in on Ian Baraclough's team-talk - here comes Dion Charles.

Josh Magennis is the man to make way.

Northern Ireland should be ahead as the sides go in at the end of what was a fairly low-key first half.

That chance that fell to Niall McGinn four minutes before the break was a good one and, though he got a decent strike on it, his shot was partially blocked before goalkeeper Denes Dibusz made a fine save.

If Steven Davis' audacious curler with the outside of his right foot early on had gone in rather than hit the outside of the post, it may have inspired a more dynamic game - but, as it was, there wasn't a great deal to get the fans excited.

Paddy Lane has worked hard but struggled to make an impact, and in fact has been pinned back quite a bit on the left side by a Hungarian side that can pass the ball about well when allowed.

It will be interesting to see what changes home boss Ian Baraclough makes in the second half - Trai Hume is on the bench and waiting for his debut, don't forget.

Fits and starts. There has been some quality from both sides but it has been sparing. Hungary's defence has dominated NI's shape, they have had good movement and we have been dominated in midfield, but yet we have had two excellent chances.

The hosts had 72% possession in that first half but just the one effort on target.

They did have that Chiedozie Ogbene goal disallowed, of course.

International friendlies. They aren't for everybody, let's be honest.

They can be an opportunity for players to launch or reinvigorate their international careers, though, and one player who could do with a kickstart at this level is Dion Charles.

Having come on and made an impression from the bench a few times, his time in a Northern Ireland shirt has been a bit stop-start so far as he looks for his first start and first goal after seven substitute appearances.

Manager Ian Baraclough acknowledged it was difficult to select Charles while he was not playing at previous club Accrington Stanley, but the 26-year-old came into this friendly double-header on the back of good form for Bolton Wanderers.

Tonight could be an opportunity for Charles to lay a marker down for a starting place up front once the Nations League gets going, but once again he will have to do that by coming on from the bench after a goalless first half.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 29 March 2022

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Lithuania

Caoimhin Kelleher hasn't had a great deal to do this evening but he does well there, punching clear an inswinging corner.

That's the last action of the first half. Stephen Kenny isn't happy with how long Lithuania are taking over set pieces and he's making his feelings clear to the fourth official as the players make their way off the pitch.

There goes the half-time whistle bang on the 45th minute. Who can blame the referee for not playing a second more - that was a rather forgettable experience.
