  1. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

Brilliant from Billy Gilmour as he picks the pocket of a Polish midfielder then splits the defence with a perfect pass for John McGinn to run on to.

McGinn gets there before the advancing goalkeeper but his touch is too heavy and, after thinking about going down, he can't keep the ball from running out of play.

  2. Postpublished at 54 mins

The next corner is worked out to Kieran Tierney near the edge of the penalty box but the Arsenal defender's shot is blocked.

Grant Hanley takes a really deep line, like an old-fashioned sweeper. He's 10-15m from the rest of the backline. One pass breaks the line, and it's a poor finish. You have to work the goalkeeper.

  6. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

The Scottish defence is caught napping as Krzysztof Piatek runs through a huge gap to gather a raking pass and then shoots wide with just Craig Gordon to beat.

Another game next week, a lot of the guys on the bench tonight will start. A lot of those other guys will not be playing. The Armstrongs, Hickeys, Stewarts, all of those guys you'd imagine will start next week. They might get some minutes here and I hope they do.

  9. Bale fires Wales in frontpublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2022

    HT: Scotland 0-0 Poland

Meanwhile in Cardiff, Wales lead Austria 1-0 thanks to a goal from Gareth Bale.

Scotland or Ukraine will face the winner of that game in a World Cup play-off final.

I really like when Scotland come down the right. Nathan Patterson has got the better of his opposite man, we just need to keep feeding him the ball. He's had two shots, a couple of crosses, and been very effective. His attacking skills are probably the best part of the his game. In a game with wing-backs where you're trying to attack down the sides, he's very, very useful.

  11. HALF-TIME Scotland 0-0 Polandpublished at 45+2 mins

A strong finish to the half from Scotland but it remains goalless.

Steve Clarke's side have played with more energy but the one glorious chance fell to Poland, with Bartosz Salamon heading over from right in front of goal.

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

Nathan Patterson has certainly earned his half-time energy gel as he races after a pass from Che Adams and pings over a cross for Ryan Christie to attack.

Christie gets in front of his man but can't keep his close-range header down.

  13. 'An excellent spell of pressure'published at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2022

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

It's an excellent spell of Scotland pressure. If you speak about a defensive job, that's exactly what you want from your players - everybody looking to block. The combination play on the left between Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney is brilliant. Billy Gilmour catches the second effort so sweetly, but there are so many bodies in the way.

  14. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

Nathan Patterson pops up inside the Poland penalty box again to slam a volley into the turf and Lukasz Skorupski has to push the shot away. It falls to Billy Gilmour on the edge of the area and his strike is firm and true, but again the goalkeeper beats it out.

John McGinn has the final bite at the cherry but the stand-in skipper is crowded out in a central position in front of goal.

  15. 'It's a brilliant position'published at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2022

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

It's the best decision, the shot, because he almost puts himself into an area where it's too tight to go past the defender but there's enough space to get the shot. It's a brilliant position. He should have a pop, and make sure those in the middle switched on for any rebounds. He was almost caught in two minds with his last touch.

  16. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

Nathan Patterson spots an opponent slipping on the Hampden turf and sets off on a gallop. Once inside the penalty area, he gets a shot off but it's straight at the keeper.

  17. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

Another injury worry for the visitors as Bartosz Salamon goes down clutching his groin after a tussle with Ryan Christie.

The defender is helped off the pitch and immediately gets an ice pack placed on the problem area.

Krystian Bielik of Derby County is his replacement.

  18. 'A very decent effort'published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2022

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

It's a very decent effort from Che Adams. He saw Ryan Christie to his left and said, 'no way, you're not getting this pass'. When I saw him lining up to strike it I thought it was a really difficult angle, with a defender in front of him, but he's managed to squeeze it through and it's a really good hit.

  19. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

Che Adams is the next Scotland player to have a pop at goal from outside the box and there's plenty of fizz on his low drive.

The keeper can't hold on but gathers at the second attempt.

  20. 'It's not exactly a friendly'published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March 2022

    Scotland 0-0 Poland

    Craig Levein
Former Scotland manager on BBC Sportsound

It's not exactly like a friendly but not a competitive match either. Somewhere in between. There have been spells where Scotland have controlled the match, but only for two or three minutes at a time. Chances-wise, it's been pretty even. Poland have had the better with the Salamon header. I'm enjoying it.
