Manchester City are back on top, Everton are a point closer to safety, Arsenal are back to winning ways and Newcastle are threatening to crash the top half of the table.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers, speaking to BBC Sport: "We were very close to being back at our level again.

"We knew we would come under some pressure here with the crowd but I thought we dealt with it really well.

"The crowd got with them a bit but still, there were so many good things about our game tonight. I was really pleased with the performance.

"It's just that little bit now that's missing. That is about concentration, it's about having a young team that are learning some harsh lessons.

"The overall game is what makes me really happy."

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira, speaking to BBC MOTD: "All credit to Newcastle. I think they defended really well and made it difficult for us.

"Playing on Monday [at home to Leeds] will help us freshen up a bit in our minds. The semi-final loss [against Chelsea last Sunday] was still fresh in our mind, which is why it took us a while to get into the game.

"We have to go back to basics and work hard to get what we want."

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to BBC MOTD: "Clearly the best team won, we have to admit that. I can't fault the boys for effort they put into the game.

"It is rare you get to play against the best in your field and Manchester City are one of if not the best team in world football at the moment.

"You'd be a fool not learn from that experience."

Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to BBC Sport: “It was very difficult. Nowhere near the quality of the last three matches and if you don’t have this quality you can lose against anybody.

"We are not satisfied. We now have three home defeats with an incredible amount of mistakes.

"We need to find a solution. I don’t have one right now. It is completely on us. A number of individual errors you cannot overcome. You cannot give three goals away for nothing.

"I hate losing and losing three times at home is unacceptable.

"I have no interest in praising or criticising individual players today after a team performance like this."

How do you respond: "I need to sleep on it. I have no idea right now.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to Sky Sports: “It was tactically really demanding. They were constantly changing shape and we had to adapt.

"We looked dangerous on the counter. After a difficult two weeks it is a great day.

"We need to have the personnel to be flexible and adapt. It was demanding for the players but I thought they did it really well."

On Eddie Nketiah’s performance: "When you look at him in training and how humble and hungry he is, good things happen to good people. If I’m happy for anyone it is especially him because I know what he has been through.

"The same with Elneny and Rob Holding. That is why we won the game today.

"I love the spirit of these players. When you lose matches you get criticised but for these players it is worth it. They are really growing.”

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to BBC Sport: “It’s a great night and the players deserve it.

"It has been a tough two weeks but you have to bounce back and show spirit.

"We have been criticised and rightly so, with the expectations we have. But me it is worth taking that for these players.”

On Eddie Nketiah’s performance: “What Eddie has done tonight is because of what he has done for the last 10 months and no-one has noticed.

"I said to him I haven’t been fair. I should have been playing him more.

"We have other issues as well and that has not been easy.

"But he deserved completely what happened to him tonight."

On their top-four hopes: "If you want to be there you have to win football matches and today confidence and energy wise it’s a big boost.

"It is exciting for us and we know the challenge and how difficult it will be. Now it is Man Utd (on Saturday) and time to prepare for that game.”

In Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, Arsenal saw three English players score in the same Premier League match v Chelsea for the first time since September 1996, when Ian Wright, Martin Keown and Paul Merson did so in a 3-3 draw at Highbury.

Manchester City

Man City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to BBC MOTD: "It was a good test and we behaved exceptional. That is why we won the game.

"We didn't let them play. Brighton have this quality. In the second half we found the goals that we could not find in the first half.

"Nathan Ake has a twisted ankle. It is not perfect but it was good to give minutes to Ruben. John [Stones] was a little bit tight. Hopefully nothing too bad but we will see tomorrow. Ruben is important. It is difficult seven weeks out to come back and pick up the rhythm. He is mentally so strong and that is why he show so many good things."

On Kevin de Bruyne: "What a signing. The club sign him before I come here so a big congratulations to the club. A special player and human being. When fit and happy mentally like all of us and is fit to show his potential he is unstoppable in that position, in transition especially. He is playing the last part of this season amazingly."

On the title race: "The feeling today is that we are now mathematically going to play in the Champions League. People can say it is normal but it is not. You only have to look at the incredible teams fighting to get into the Champions League. Now for the Premier League, we are not stupid. If we drop just two points, Liverpool will be champions. If we win all games we will be champions. The players know it. We know the tough games we have and we must try to perform like today and win all the games. If we do that we will celebrate, if not we will congratulate Liverpool."

Manchester City

Manchester City's win means they are guaranteed a top-four finish and a place in next season's Champions League. They'll be hoping they have a lot more to show for this season's efforts when it ends.

Everton manager Frank Lampard, speaking to BBC Sport: "In the first half we were not at our best but the second half was much better from us. We felt we deserved something and thankfully we managed to get it.

"We had the best chance in the first half. We had chances and that was a common theme. But Leicester played well. I was really happy with the spirit. I told the players they needed to lift the attitude and intensity and they did that.

"The Premier League is a test, the position we are in is a test. Leicester can play through you. We got to half-time at 1-0 and in the second half there was more direction. The good things is we're getting the chances and we felt we might get something.

"We're in a phase where we need to fight and show commitment and the players showed that. I thought our captain Seamus [Coleman] was sensational, leading by example."

Everton

Everton's draw means managerless Burnley will kick-off at home to Southampton on Thursday (19:45 BST) four points from safety with seven matches left.

If the Clarets beat Saints and follow it up with a home win against Wolves on Sunday (14:00), Everton will start the Merseyside derby at Liverpool (Sunday, 16:30) in the relegation zone.

It was subdued in the first half, but once again Goodison Park's roar was heard throughout this part of Liverpool as Richarlison's late goal earned a precious point.

In their last evening game here it was Alex Iwobi who earned a injury-time winner. This will feel like a win to Frank Lampard, whose side improved massively in the second period to keep them four points clear of the drop zone.
