These are Liverpool's remaining games, do you think they can make history and win the quadruple?

    Hit the thumbs.

    Manchester City

More from Pep Guardiola, on chanting during Hillsborough minute silence: "I think Manchester City made a statement.

"This is not Manchester City. We are close to Liverpool club for the tragedy that happened years ago. We are alongside them. After these guys singing (it) doesn't represent what we are."

  4. 'The guys put in a lot of pride in the second half'published at 18:05 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to BBC Sport: "We gave everything after a tough first half. For the first goal, the set pieces they are very, very strong. The second was an accident. Difficult to come back but they did it perfectly in the second half."

On Zack Steffen's mistake for the second goal: "It was an accident. One of the strong points is try to play [out] and as a keeper he has this quality. It was an accident and he will learn for the future.. When the ball is there it can always happen.

"I have spoken with the team not him personally but he is strong."

"Our momentum was there in the second half. We had the chances to equalise. It was a difficult fixture because we came from somewhere like only we know where we came from, with games we had and the last five or six days days away and people with the problems. The guys put in a lot of pride in the second half.

"It was not a question of tired. They were more tired in the first, football is not about the tiredness it is about what you do and how it works and how you play.

"We finally have one or two days off. We know we have seven games and the Champions League, we are going to try to push and see what happens."

  5. 'One of best first halves we have played' - Klopppublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    FT: Man City 2-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to BBC One:

"Absolutely proud, incredible - I think the first half was one of the best we ever played. We did all the right stuff, we scored in the right moments, we played an incredible game in the first half, I really loved each second of it.

"The second half started with the goal for Man City and then it opens up - the quality of City is insane and you could see it was a much more open game.

"We respect the quality of City so much and it's so difficult to win against them. But because we have these boys in our dressing room we have a chance.

"It's not a statement, we are just in the final. I think City knew beforehand that it could be difficult against us - that's how it has been between us most of the time. There was one game where there was a strange scoreline - 5-0 - when we had an early red card.

"But when both teams were on top of their concentration, it has always been close.

"The quadruple talk I can't believe it. This win means we have another game and then we have to play Aston Villa in a midweek, they have to move one game again.

"I don't think we have a full free week before the last matchday - it's all difficult but who cares? We came here and we wanted to go through to the final. We knew about the problems but qualifying for this final makes the quadruple even more difficult - it's the only way to do it but it makes it more difficult as well so it's a strange situation.

"But we are over the moon, we beat the strongest football team in the world and that's a pretty special moment."

  8. 'A perfect first half'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    FT: Man City 2-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk, speaking to BBC Sport: "We made it very difficult for ourselves in the end. We created a chance to finish the game. When they scored their first goal quite early in the second half it gives them a boost but overall we are happy to go to the final.

"It is about scoring goals and that is what we did in the first half. A perfect first half in that case but we pay City, the champions of England at the moment and it is always going to be tough.

"There are moments you will have to suffer. You have to show a lot of strength and togetherness. It was intense like the previous game against each other but we should have killed the game off.

"We go to the final now, we haven't won anything at the moment but it is a big step for us as a group. It is the only trophy we didn't win so we will give it a go."

On Ibrahima Konate: "He has made a great impact, he is working hard every day. He has to perform when he is called upon and he is doing just that."

Why do people throw in conjecture to level things in their mind? "Except for a gift from Steffen" but there was one, you can do this with anything. Except Fernandinho should have been sent off, what if Salah decides to score a 3 minute hat trick. What if Godzilla attacks the game. Pointless.

It was much, much better in that second half from City.

You can imagine what Pep said at half-time and they responded.

They got the early goal they so needed but then Liverpool did really well in killing the game and taking the pace out of it.

The thing I was surprised was that Pep didn't make a substitution earlier.

    But Liverpool deserved it.

  11. 'We will fight for quadruple' - Manepublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    FT: Man City 2-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool double goalscorer Sadio Mane to BBC One:

"Today is special - we were playing one of the best teams in the world. To win this kind of game, especially in a semi-final, is a big, big, big win.

"We were very pleased to win and qualify for the final.

"We started very well, everybody started on the front foot - for my first goal the goalkeeper made a mistake but I think we pushed him to make that mistake. That is our style and I think that made the difference."

On the possible quadruple: "We have a lot of games to go and we will try to do our best - it's our dream for sure and we will fight for it."

  12. Keeper choices 'turned out to be difference'published at 17:38 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    FT: Man City 2-3 Liverpool

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

Liverpool were certainly gifted one goal and I think the goalkeeper should have done better with the other two as well.

Big decisions from Jurgen Klopp in terms of his team selection have helped win the game because there's no doubt he played his number one goalkeeper.

Manchester City didn't and, ultimately, their goalkeeper has made mistakes which have cost them. Alisson in that second half, pulled off two very good saves - one, the one-on-one from Jesus, was superb.

And that's what's turned out to be the difference.

Incredible isn't it? The level of consistency. It doesn't matter what level of opposition you face if you get in front of a game it is very hard against Liverpool.

They don't always play well but still get over the line.

It wasn't enough to force extra time but this goal set up a tense finale that never looked like happening after the first 45 minutes.

    Micah Richards
Former Man City defender on BBC One

Liverpool had the game won in the first half down to their brilliance but also City were not alive, which I've not said for a while.

In the second half they upped the tempo. It looked more like the City we recognise. It wasn't enough today but in the end Liverpool were the better team.

  16. 'City left themselves too much to do'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    FT: Man City 2-3 Liverpool

    Martin Keown

It's always a treat when these two sides play.

City just left themselves too much to do - credit them for the second half, much better - but Liverpool were in a world of their own in their first half.

Their performance in that first half was just too good for City.

It is a first FA Cup final for Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool keep alive their hopes of an unprecedented quadruple.

For Manchester City, the dream of a treble is over but there's still the chance of a Premier League-Champions League double.
