And now for the last match of this East Monday EFL marathon.

The last time these teams met in November West Brom were third in the table and Nottingham Forest were 13th.

It's almost a complete reversal for the return fixture, with Forest in fifth and the Baggies down in 12th.

The Reds fell to a 1-0 defeat at fellow play-off hopefuls Luton on Friday to all-but end their hopes of a top-two finish but, with games in hand on those around them, their place in the top six is basically assured.

For West Brom? Their hopes of a top six finish are incredibly remote after a disastrous second half of the season.

So wins today already for Bournemouth, Huddersfield and Luton.

Just a point for Sheffield United. Nottingham Forest next to play.

That was a very reassuring three points for the Cherries as they go for second, while Huddersfield and Luton are now looking very likely for the top six.

It would be the same for Forest if they can beat West Brom at the City Ground. The Blades are the side now looking vulnerable to those outside the play-offs.

But don't forget - if the Baggies win, they would be only three points off the top six and would guarantee promotion for Fulham.

    Sheffield United's three remaining games:

    • Cardiff (H)
    • QPR (A)
    • Fulham (H)

Some interesting encounters there, especially the one at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on 29 April if QPR are still in the shake-up.

  4. Frustration all roundpublished at 19:30 British Summer Time 18 April 2022

FT: Bristol City 1-1 Sheffield United

So Sheffield United stay in sixth - the final play-off spot - after sharing the points with Bristol City.

Morgan Gibbs-White rescued a point after Chris Martin had put the Robins in front, but the visitors should have been ahead before that. They will be frustrated they could not put more daylight between them and chasers Millwall, Blackburn, QPR and Middlesbrough. Three more nervous games ahead for them.

As for Bristol City, they remain 18th, but no team in the Championship has given up more points from winning positions this season.

  10. Postpublished at 86 mins

    Bristol City 1-1 Sheffield United

A chance for the home team from a set piece as the ball drops to Rob Atkinson in the area.

The tempo has calmed down somewhat after that frantic start to the second period.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 76 mins

    Bristol City 1-1 Sheffield United

A first alteration of the evening for Sheffield United.

Iliman N'Diaye's evening is over and on comes 18-year-old Dane Will Osula. This is just a third sub appearance for the young forward. He is yet to score.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 70 mins

    Bristol City 1-1 Sheffield United

A second enforced change this half for Bristol City.

Antoine Semenyo needed treatment after going down and he can't continue, so Nahki Wells comes on to replace him for his 100th appearance for the Robins.

  18. Why we love footballpublished at 68 mins

    Bristol City 1-1 Sheffield United

The visitors had lost all control they had in the first half of this game following Chris Martin's goal.

They looked more likely to concede a second as they threw men forward but Morgan Gibbs-White's equaliser has them in the ascendancy once again.

We should be in for an exciting last quarter.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 65 mins

    Bristol City 1-1 Sheffield United

George Baldock sneakily kicks the ball out of Dan Bentley and earns himself a booking.

A third yellow of the evening for the Blades.

Sheffield United have been searching all evening for a goal and Morgan Gibbs-White has provided it.

Enda Stevens has his shot parried by Dan Bentley and it bounces up for Gibbs-White, who scissor-kicks the rebound into the net from ten yards.

A tenth of the season for the 22-year-old. He won't have got too many more important ones.
