    Scotland head coach Steve Clarke says: "There's always something you can find in the performance to improve on. Ball retention could've been better. Some decent moments first half, especially on the counter.

    "From 2-0 it's always a little bit disappointing to not see out a win, but its a tough place to come. Austria were competitive and they wanted to give their manager a good send off.

    "We'll take the draw and go eight unbeaten and look forward to competitive games in June."

    "When it's not going your way, like it was at times tonight, those guys are going to step up and produce a moment of quality or throw their body in front of the ball to stop it going in.

    "It's a great mix and we enjoy playing together and I think that shows even in the difficult times when we have to grind it out."

    Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon: "We had to do a lot of defending and are happy to come away without being beat.

    "We're still undefeated in a long time and this is a difficult place to come. We knew we'd have to defend at times and they put us under a lot of pressure.

    "My first and last saves were my two best, they came at important times. It was a night I had to make a number of saves and thankfully I've done enough to make sure we weren't defeated.

    "We can play better, we're satisfied with the draw but a bit disappointed not to see the game out having been 2-0 up."

    When John McGinn first got in the team he had a habit of losing possession. He has developed and become the most complete Scotland player I've seen in a long time. He gets about the pitch, is so strong, he's added goals to his game. A phenomenal player. He's my first name on the teamsheet.

    Two good goals for Scotland, the second was brilliant. But it was a bit of a joke they were 2-0 up. Austria had tons of chances and I never had any confidence Scotland were going to win. They couldn't keep getting away with that defending. They haven't lost the game, but it does raise certain issues such as who joins Tierney in the back three? Hanley looks short of confidence after losing games with Norwich every week.

    It's a positive result but I don't necessarily think it was a positive performance. There were too many negatives; not having midfield control at any stage and we gave up far too many opportunities. Defensively, we were all over the place at times

    We were ruthless to go 2-0 up. What a goal it was from John McGinn! Scotland didn't deserve to win but it's a good result and it keeps that momentum up

    Scotland will be disappointed to throw away a 2-0 lead but defeat would have been rough on Austria, who had 12 shots on target to the visitors' three.

    It was a refreshingly open game, with goalkeeper Craig Gordon kept busy since there were several shaky moments at the back - and that will be a concern for Steve Clarke.

    Still, Scotland's unbeaten run extends to eight games and John McGinn found the net again. The midfielder's 12th international goal was a cracker.
