    FT: Braga 1-0 Rangers

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst on BT Sport.

"In the end it's a one-goal difference. Next week we play at home with the crowd behind us. We have to win with a two-goal margin and we go through to the semis.

Asked about whether a young Braga side could be intimidated coming to Ibrox next week, Van Bronckhorst replied: "The atmosphere is very hostile and overwhelming at times.

"You also saw today after 70 minutes they dropped their energy levels a little bit. So we need to bring the energy next week."

DJThunderdragon: Embarrassingly bad performance. Weak in defence, sloppy in midfield and looked like amateurs in attack. Lucky Braga are bang average - they should be kicking themselves for not killing the tie off tonight..

Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala played as Rangers' most advanced forwards tonight but the below combined touch map shows they were often out wide or dropping deep.

The first half, Braga played well but someone switched them off at half-time. It wasn’t the spectacle that we’ve been used to in Europe with Rangers. They’ll be confident they can overturn the tie in the second leg at Ibrox.

Rangers put another 19 crosses in tonight. Having had about 30 against Celtic on Sunday without any joy.

They'll need to sharpen up for next week especially with no Alfredo Morelos.

It was a better half for Rangers, without a shadow of a doubt. Braga didn't know whether to go for another goal or sit back and take 1-0. Rangers never troubled the Braga goal.

  10. FULL-TIME - Braga 1-0 Rangerspublished at 21:56 British Summer Time 7 April 2022

All over. A disappointing night for Rangers, but this tie is far from over.

Abel Ruiz's fine finish five minutes before the break proves to be the winner.

Braga also hit the post and had a goal chalked off, while Rangers huffed and puffed.

They had plenty of the ball but failed to work a single shot on target. Still, they'll back themselves to turn it around at home.

Into the final minute. Braga take a free kick but they punt it more or less straight out.

Connor Goldson launches a long diagonal but it comes to nothing. That will be that.

Braga goalkeeper Matheus dives to block the ball at the feet of Connor Goldson and Braga survive!

A much better ball from that corner right into the six yard box.

James Tavernier goes short and works a different angle for someone else to deliver, the ball ultimately falls to Calvin Bassey who has a lash, only for a Braga player to get in the way.

The short set pieces haven't worked so far for Rangers. Three minutes of added time coming.

Connor Goldson ventures forward down the right and is tripped by David Carmo. The Braga man has already been booked and ia arguably lucky not to be sent off there.

Anyway, Rangers have a free kick on the right-hand side of the box. A bit of magic needed.

Braga freshen things up with a few changes. Will there be a hero?

Rangers struggling for ideas but there is still time.

Meanwhile, if you've not seen Dimitri Payet's goal for Marseillie tonight. Wow.

Rangers are still to have a shot on target.

The last time they failed to hit the target in a European game was a 2-0 defeat by Stuttgart in 2009 at Ibrox in the Champions League.

    Surely not again?

It's setting up for a very intriguing final fifteen minutes. There's going to be chances at either end - it's just a case of who can take them when they come along.

The Horta brothers Andre and Ricardo produce a flowing move as they play it between each other to move up the park.

Rangers defend stoutly but then Ricardo Horta smashes a shot which Allan McGregor has to punch behind for a corner. Rangers stand firm at the set piece.

Rangers have found their feet as the substitutes make their impact.

Scott Arfield crosses for Kemar Roofe, who peels away from his marker and smashes a first-time shot miles over.

Roofe probably had time to take a touch there. But is the momentum shifting?

From the resulting corner, Connor Goldson is totally unmarked and heads wide.

He tried to send the ball back across the goalkeeper into the far corner, when the other side was probably a better option.
